Here is a possible conspiracy that wasn't given enough coverage
Valerie Plame was working on the international market in nucyaler materials. She was exposed by someone working for Dick Cheney (like "Scooter" Libby). Dick Cheney was CEO of Halliburton. Halliburton's top contracts in that time were with Libya, Iran and Iraq. During that time he sold nucyaler triggers to Libya.

'''In 1995, Halliburton was fined $3.8 million for re-exporting U.S. goods through a foreign subsidiary to Libya in violation of U.S. sanctions.4 The company reportedly peddled oil drilling tools (pulse neutron generators) that critics say can be used to trigger nuclear bombs.5 So, while the Bush administration triumphs over Libya's recent surrender of weapons of mass destruction programs to U.S. authorities, it was Halliburton which contributed to their creation in the first place.

Now one of the leading agents in the US in that field has been compromised.

Just seems serendipitous is all.

1. I read somewhere that Valeria Plame's actual area of
work was on the issue of peak oil. In particular, her cover was working for a pr firm that contracted with the Saudis to promote their energy interests in the U.S. but her real job was to determine if they were lying about their oil reserves.

Naturally it is helpful for the public to think her expertise was in nuclear development not peak oil.

2. Not correct. Plame and her clandestine network were tasked with....
...the global tracking of any and all materials that could be used in the manufacture of WMDs. They would have known for sure whether or not Saddam was importing materials for the production of WMDs. IMHO, that was the real reason that Plame was publicly compromised along with her network. Remember also that the UN inspectors were also forced to leave Iraq by the NeoCon Junta.

Without Plame's network and the UN inspectors, the NeoCon Junta was free to claim anything they wanted to claim, and Cheney was twisting arms in the CIA to make sure that the NeoCon version of the story was the only one that was going to be used.

And that brings us to the DSM documents which confirms that the NeoCon Junta was forcing everyone to go along with the NeoCon version of events to justify an attack on Iraq.
