There is a mirror image debate about killing, between white bread Christians (not Christians in general) and liberals that get's danced around.

Military aggression - McChristians support, Liberals oppose
Corporal punishment - McChristians support, Liberals oppose
Right to abortion - McChristians oppose, Liberals support
Right to die - McChristians oppose, Liberals support

I think the common thread is misery. If these deaths will relieve misery, Liberals are for it and McChristains are against it. If these deaths will cause misery, Liberals are against it and McChristians are for it.

McChristians just love suffering, hence their glorification of crucifixion, and the slave ethic.

I think the common thread is that one group views humanity as wicked, and the other views it as basically good. One group wants a strong daddy to protect them, and they're heavily into punishment. The other group is more about individual freedom and free thought.
