Andrew Sullivan post email that smacks down Hannity (from a Conservative) |
|
I couldn't have said it better  http://www.andrewsullivan.com/index.php?dish_inc=archives/2005_06_12_dish_archive.html#111887104509252848EMAIL OF THE DAY: "I think conservatives need to discuss the rise of the Hannity right. I was drawn to the conservative side by Bill Buckley's relentless and civilized dismantling of liberal orthodoxy and by Ronald Reagan's sunny faith in individual effort, private enterprise and the goodness of America. I was cemented in the cause by the thought of lesser though still very bright lights such as Tom Sowell, Walter Williams, Charles Krauthammer, Newt Gingrich and just about the whole 1980s NR crowd. Hannity is a significant departure from this serious tradition. Unlike Rush Limbaugh, whose genius is to approach familiar issues with unfamiliar arguments, Hannity approaches familiar issues with entirely familiar arguments. His points have been made a thousand times before, far more effectively and successfully. He is a bore, and a bully whose attempts to adopt a "nice guy" persona fall flat. Whereas I always sense Rush's innate humility even when at his theatrically bombastic best, Hannity's self regard is overwhelming even when assuring us that he owes all to his listeners. In fact, he owes all to his interesting line-up of guests, without whom his show would be entirely worthless. His national tours, so far as I can tell from the radio, tend to attract the yobbo element -- all shouting, cheering and hissing. Can you imagine such a thing from the audience at Firing Line? Was there even an audience? Hannity is several steps backward for conservatives. We have been, are, and must remain, far better than this."

I always liked Bill Buckley: a sharp intellect, and a fine, but dignified debater.

3. Sully explains his idiocy and then expects us to swallow |
|
his arguments about Insanity? He was brainwashed by the best, and even least the GOP smear machine has to offer. Sully has no credibility simply because his heroes are charlatains. Hannity is a disingenuous media whore and bullying magpie. Sully is the very same, except Hannity is better at it that him. Sour grapes.
Sully lost any credibility for me when he moralized about irresponsible gay sexual behavior, and was later found out to be soliciting bareback (no condom) sex on the internet in the late-90s. He's been HIV+ for 15 years! Hypocrite, and Auntie Lance. Who gives a shit what he thinks about Hannity.

Ollie North and Ann Coulter ad nauseum? Interesting isn't exactly the first thing that comes to mind.
Hannity is many things, first and formost a liar.

5. Puke........He loves Limbaugh.........but what about......... |
|
Edited on Wed Jun-15-05 05:16 PM by KoKo01
:puke: This isn't a "recant" of his errant ways it's a glorification of them when he only attacks some idiot Faux person...while allowing the "Emperor of Hate" the "VOICE of the RIGH" who introduced the "HATE" into our culture (going back to McCarthy 50's Black Ball/Commie/Pinko Spew) RUSH LIMBAUGH?
OFGS...give it up Sullivan. Recanting on only one of your "Guru's" is sick. And, especially since you are persecuted for your sexuality like we Progressive Dems are for our beliefs that all people "should have a fair chance in life and that without laws protecting our basic rights the "Millionair/Globalists" will always win out.
He's diffusing the issue, here. Making it all about "Him" and not seeing the big picture.
He's beat his "Aid's" and probably has access to the best of health care that many other "Aid's" sufferers don't. Like the "Robber Barons" they have access to all of it the rest of us don't and "Health Care" is the BIG ONE.
:nuke: Steam coming outta my ears.

When Hannity was in Atlanta he was the bore he has always been. He tried to hide his racism all the time. I waited all the time to catch him in a racial slur. Finally one day a caller with a heavy foreign accent challenged him and true to his colors Hannity answered him in pigeon English mocking him. Finally I had caught him. The next day I called in and I challenged him by asking him what he meant by answering the caller in broken English. I took control of the call. He was blubbering all over himself. Of course he eventually cut me off but I had control of the call. I could feel him sweating profusely. My father who was born in St. Louis and was not allowed to swim in the public pools because of his color always knew that Hannity was a racist. I was never my fathers favorite but he and my brothers heard me on the radio and for one week I think I was his favorite. He was very proud of me.

12. Rush's innate humility? |
|
I guess an example of that would be Rush's famous tagline--"Talent on loan from Gawd!"
For those who haven't joined me on the Atheist bench yet, that quip alone should give you something to think about.
