Ed Schultz Vs. A Rock: Who's Dumber? |
|
God is this guy taking dumb-ass pills or what.
I'm in and out of my car a lot in the afternoon and popped in on him giving a long boring speech about why Americans use too much gas. Not because of the CARS...at all....WE LIKE TO GO FAST!
We're super macho go-fast people. We don't want a ski boat to go 30, we want it to 50! Uh-murkins like to go real fast. Now take his first plane....blah blah blah.
Would this guy fall off his stool to know that some of us ARE actually carpooling, walking more and TRYING to cut down on gas consumption? How about some LEADERSHIP in that direction?

1. I heard the same thing |
|
and he did sound dumb(he really can sound ignorant sometimes), and almost as if he was glorifying this aspect of murikun culture. However, I THINK his point was that we need to lower the speed limit to 55 because people won't slow down on their own. And he is right about that. His point was lost in all of the stupid rhetoric.

17. OMG...Was THAT The Point? |
|
Here's what he doesn't get: Many people who listen to him are like me, listening to segments while carpooling and doing errands. So when every time you get in the car he is saying something like: "I used to make that drive in 4 hours but how about 3 hours and 45 minutes....we like to go fast! That's the way it is!"
What I'm saying is I came in and out of it for a few stops and he didn't seem to be making ANY point at all except WE LIKE TO GO FAST.
It was worth it to hear my Senator Boxer though -- I love that woman!

As always....she's on there a lot. I actually don't mind his interviews except the Dean one was a little ridiculous, it was all like WHY DON'T YOU DO MY SHOW AND WHY ARE YOU DOING IT ON A CELL PHONE?
Usually he just lets the person talk which is fine.
Boxer was talking about holding GWBs feet to the fire to get a concrete exit strategy outta Iraq...

28. She was saying that... |
|
us being there was accomplishing only two things, one, a lot of people resent the hell out of it and so it fuels terrorism....two, the ones who don't will just sit back and let us "protect" them as long as we keep doing it.
Oh and she suggested a book that I'm going to look for at the library, I think she said the author is Mackey or Mackee something like that, and it's about how Iraq came to be the way it is now, history from WWI era to now.
She suggested that if somebody in the administration had even done THAT much research, they could have foreseen all these problems.

2. He's not talking to us...but to the Limbaugh types.... |
|
And, getting those types to give up their "Hummers" and Gigantic SUV's (the ones that are like RV's) isn't going to be easy.
Can you imagine Franken or Rhodes talking about this issue in a way that would grab the Limpball's types? :eyes:
He might not be what you want to listen to but FGS! Think of the alternatives for folks who can't get into AAR?
I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with him, though...:-(

19. Yea, the Limbaugh types really care about saving gas |
|
and will gladly slow down to "55"- hell, I won't do it and I'm not a Limbaugh type.
Remember that about the first thing the Gingrich Congress did was repeal the national speed limit? Why do you think that was? Because his constituency cared about conservation?

23. Yeah If People Are Going To Go 65 Rather Than 55 |
|
Then they might as well drive an SUV? DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? He was acting like the speed was more important than the fuel economy of the car....I actually couldn't figure out what the hell he was getting at.

Yeah but I heard him say, "and they're never GOING to." Like, it's not going to happen. Which is a little ridiculous, with the right leadership we could see improved awareness and fuel conservation. What we have now is the opposite, they want status quo forever even though it's obviously not sustainable.

That part makes it sound hopeless and I don't think it is. Funny when he was saying that I was going the speed limit on a busy street and thinking "I could go faster on my horse!" Now that is my speed addiction: galloping full out with an animal that truly enjoys it too! And she runs on bio-fuels :)

Smart people generally get their news via press(papers -n- mags) rather than the radio. It's sort of a moron who listens to 3 + hours of radio a day anyways... unless you are stuck in traffic or drive for a living, of course.

Half the time when people bring up news, he hasn't heard of it. BUT HE 'APPRECIATES THE CALL!'
Frankly, I think we shouldn't really be going after the Arrogant Boring Dumbass guys because they are going to vote for the King Arrogant Boring Dumbass, GWB!

|
He reminds me of Bartcop, whom I've met. Bart calls himself a meat-eating, Vegas-gambling, tequila-swilling, gun-owning liberal. He sounds and looks like a yahoo, but there plenty of those types out there that can relate. If Schultz can reel that crowd in, we can expand our influence to the "red" states.

38. Why is everybody bashing Ed Schultz? |
|
I like Ed Schultz. He is a reformed conservative, so he knows what he is talking about when it comes to reaching out and converting people from the other side. I enjoy the other progressive hosts as well, but they tend to preach to the choir. Schultz seems to be trying to reach everybody. What makes him a valuable voice is that he is a progressive that many "red-staters" can relate to.
