Former Editorial Writers Charge 'Indy Star' with 'Religious Discrimination |
|
Two former editorial writers at The Indianapolis Star have gone to court, charging that top newsroom managers "consistently and repeatedly demonstrated ... a negative hostility toward Christianity." http://www.mediainfo.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000962266Is there such a thing as "positive hostility"?

1. These people don't get rights |
|
"Patterson told WTHR, "This is America. We have the right, under the first amendment, to express those views"
And the owner of the paper has a "right" to not publish editorials you write in "their" paper.
John Price, the attorney representing this guy, has a long history of being a rabble rouser for fundies.

2. The phrase "negative hostility" is probably... |
|
...an apt explanation for why the complainants are "former" staff members.

3. Everything is "discrimination" with Fundies |
|
Don't make it a practice to wave your hands in the air in prayer before lunch?
You're DISCRIMINATING!
Don't handle snakes?
You're DISCRIMINIATING!
Don't force your entire workforce to watch Benny Hinn and send him checks and talk in tongues and say horrible things about liberals?
You're DISCRIMINATING!
You must be a religious bigot!

4. Hoo boy, this is a hot one! |

Patterson told WTHR, "This is America. We have the right, under the first amendment, to express those views."
That's right, Mr. Patterson, but the paper you work for is not compelled to publish those views. It's kind of a fine legal point, but if you truly want freedom of the press, I suggest you buy and publish your own newspaper. The only entity that can abridge your First Amendment rights is Congress -- read the Amendment again.
