I didn't even know this had happened....guess the news media was too busy with MJ or something else "important".....

from an email from Refugees International (www.refugeesinternational.org) -

Ivory Coast: 10,000 Displaced by Massacre Require Assistance

Refugees International's advocates are currently in the Ivory Coast where they found that 10,000 people displaced by a massacre on June 1, 2005 have sought refuge at a nearby Catholic Mission and in nearby communities. Mission personnel and international agencies have begun vaccinating against measles, reuniting lost children with their families, digging latrines, and setting up large tents to provide temporary shelter from the elements. Yet, the Mission does not have the capacity to do more to help such a large influx of people. The UN has begun to provide a forum for various agencies to organize greater assistance for these people, but a new temporary camp is needed to ensure that all of the displaced people can receive food, water, shelter and protection from future attack
