Every newspaper in the country is carrying this story, and lists where you can see it and what time. :woohoo:
http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=us&ie=UTF-8&scoring=d&q=House+Democrat%27s+forum+to+examine+Downing+Street+memo&btnG=Search+News

This story also talks about the legislation calling for withdrawal:

"A Gallup Poll released Monday found that 59 percent of Americans support a partial or complete withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq. The poll was of 1,003 adults and taken June 6-10.

On Thursday, four congressmen - liberal Democrats Neil Abercrombie of Hawaii and Dennis Kucinich of Ohio and conservative Republicans Walter Jones of North Carolina and Ron Paul of Texas - have planned a news conference to discuss legislation calling on Bush to phase out the U.S. military presence in Iraq."

He's my rep. He's also as conservative as they come. I guess my constant nagging might have paid off. :)

15. Walter Jones is very conservative but remember ...
he used to be a Democrat before he was a Republican. His father was a much beloved, moderate Democrat. Jones Jr. ran for Congress first as a Dem but lost, and then jumped the shark and became a Repuke when he sensed that that's where his district was headed.

Flip - Flop.

39. Yup - it is on Conyers blog!
http://www.conyersblog.us/
<snip>
"For those commenters who were concerned (or hoping) that there would be a media blackout of the forum, that will not be the case. I have every major network, other than Fox, bringing cameras to the hearing. Nightline is taping the event, which I think represents a welcome development from a well respected investigative program. In addition, C-Span 3 and Radio Pacifica are carrying it live."

4. mentions Conyers being locked out of hearing rooms.....
Initially, Republicans denied Conyers access to a room in the Capitol complex for his forum, but on Wednesday he was granted use of a small room. Because he lacks the committee's consent, Conyers has no subpoena powers, investigative staff or funds to conduct his inquiry.

38. wouldn't Sensenbrenner have as much right to walk into the capital
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 12:39 PM by Malva Zebrina
as you or anyone? That logic is way off, but that is possibly because wild and angry emotions get the better of clear thinking. We all get angry, but calling the office and letting fly loose on the person who answers the phone is quite counterproductive, imo.

I think that kind of reaction, no matter how correct the facts, to the office of Sensenbrenner and letting fly loose to the person answering the phone, does nothing but stir up mayhem and make Democrats look like childish, foot stomping brats who go off on tangents to anyone who will listen.

A more measured approach may get better results.

I saw Rep. Conyers on Washington Journal this morning. Watch him. He was insulted by a caller, whose anger was as visible and hysterical as any, and it may be a lesson to be learned from Conyers. Cool, calm and collected, yet, by no means did he take it lying down and because of that, he was able to show the listeners how hysterically inclined that irate caller was and he, in the end, emerged the victor. I suspect that he would want all those involved to follow his dignified example.

Can't have an opposition if you stop them from gathering and making their case.

No-protest zones and rejecting the use of Taxpayer-funded rooms for the opposition is lightweight, but who knows.

40. MSNBC just had a live piece on it - right in front of the Capitol
I doubt that they would hang around outside at 1:40 p.m. with a camera crew and not go inside!

BTW - CNN showed a clip from the Patiot Act hearing!
