"Concerned Women": Schiavo, a 'disabled person', was denied water
Edited on Wed Jun-15-05 09:24 PM by Bluebear
I'll have to admit, these people NEVER give up.

WASHINGTON, June 15 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Concerned Women for America (CWA) responded to the autopsy report on Terri Schiavo, released today by a medical examiner for Florida's Pinellas-Pasco County, which confirmed that the "removal of feeding tube resulted in her death."

"Terri Schiavo's autopsy results confirm what was feared – she was disabled, and her death was due to the deliberate denial of hydration," said Wendy Wright, CWA's senior policy director. "The autopsy report described Terri's medical history and condition in detail, but the cold reality of the truth is that her cause of death was 'dehydration.' Terri Schiavo died because the court ordered the removal of the instrument that provided her water.

"There is no medical condition or disability that should ever be championed as a justifiable reason to deny water to a human being. Every human life has worth and a purpose apart from its 'merit' to society that must be vigorously defended and upheld, not crushed."

"While people may personally dread becoming handicapped, people with disabilities deserve mercy, not malice. Only a calloused society in moral freefall would deny a disabled person her most basic need – water," said Wright.

Concerned Women for America is the nation's largest public policy women's organization.

1. Should have "spunged" her mouth
That would've fixed everything. Fucking Morons.

3. You got that right.
The doctor said she was incapable of taking sustenance by mouth, indeed she would have aspirated anything. So these people getting arrested for "trying to bring Terri a drink" were totally in outer space! Either that or they were just trying to get on the news. :eyes"

4. Disabled?
IMO, these people can't be reasoned with rationally. They'll never be able to explain to me their belief that God should be the one who decides who lives and dies, yet in the same breath they want people left on machines that keep them alive. :wtf:

In regard to the woman holding the Barbara-Bush-bashing sign: would you label her as "ultra-ultra right-wing" or just.....a bitch?

9. Terri Shiavo was not disabled, she was comatose
for 15 years no less. She was non-responsive to stimuli and never going to come out of her coma. Keeping her hooked up to machines for the next 20-50 years was not going to do a darn thing for her. She was not "disabled", she was comatose.

11. She was far beyond "comatose": Her brain was 1/2 its normal size...
Her brain damage was irreversible and untreatable.

12. Thank you for saying this, she was also...
brain dead. They are taking disabled to another level. Meanwhile, Medicaid was cut in my state for 3,000 disabled infants and toddlers.
This week the state is discussing the 79,000 people with in-home health care for the blind and disabled being cut. They don't even realize this, I don't think. Why can't they focus on all these issues happening to the living disabled, every day since Bushco walked through the door.

10. Ghods.. I'm dealing with some people now...
.. and all this has done is said.

1 - the Medical Examiner LIED, she has a perfectly normal brain and could see.

2 - All her husband cared about was the multi-millions he got from her settlement the minute she was dead. Don't try to say all the money was spent, the bank, the insurance company, the court apppointed guardian all 'in on it'.

3 - Her Husband will make another multi-million on book/movie deals.

Really nice people other than this, but dead ghods..

14. For the last six months or so,
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 04:25 AM by EST
my own poor, tired, bemused brain keeps fetching up, unbidden, the parable that describes gagging at a gnat and swallowing a camel. The sheer contortions these psychotics twist themselves through, all the while singing the same song as the rest of the vermin, in order to pluck a sort of inobvious conclusion or insane ideology from a perfectly ordinary set of conditions, is astounding to watch.

It is difficult to imagine that they actually think this way. Every time I watch a McClellan hula shuffle, or someone like Cornyn regurgitating the party hustle, I am left with a horrid fascination, a kind of giddy, angry flare of outrage that is particularly biting. Can there really be a large group of people who, no shit, honestly see reality in that 'believing six impossible things before breakfast' fashion?

Yeah, I've asked myself that question many, many times before. When it is so obvious that the lying sack is quack, quack, lying again and it becomes, again - is he lying and knows it, actually glories in it, or does this paragon of Orwellian double speak actually believe what he's saying?

Gaaaa here we go again...

It has to be true, we just don't live in the same universe as these creeps.

13. If I were in Terri's condition
I would want to die. I would want someone to do what had to be done. Deny me water, give me morphine, feed me to the dogs, throw me in front of a train, whatever but somebody, immediatly should take me the fuck out. IF some dogood moron kept me alive for 15 years I swear I would find my way back from the other side and haunt their dreams.

15. are they saying that she should have been given water
even after she was no longer being fed? but wouldn't that have just prolonged her dying? she would have starved to death which takes longer than dying from dehydration. do they wanted her to "suffer" (in their words) more??
