Frist wants case closed on Schiavo now...is he embarrased???
WASHINGTON - Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, a surgeon who had questioned Terri Schiavo's diagnosis during the intense national debate on whether to remove her feeding tube, said the autopsy documenting her severe brain damage brings "a very sad chapter to a close." "She had devastating brain damage, and with that the chapter is closed," Frist said Thursday on ABC's "Good Morning

16. You really hit it
His diagnosis from the Senate floor for Mrs Schiavo was terribly wrong and his diagnosis for the country is worse.
I find it amazing that the republicans hold someone so terribly flawed in such high regard.
Whatever happened to fool me once uh ah, won't get fooled again?

7. that's so typically republican weenie
"Case closed", "Conversation Over"

AS IF that's going to spare them further embarrassment. Here's a suggestion Dr. Frist: Do the right thing the first time and you won't have to apologize later. Be in your right damn mind before you open your mouth so you won't have to abruptly "close" the conversation later and huff off in a republican snit.

Weener.

10. But Frist diagnosed her via videotape?!
Doesn't he want to fight the autopsy to the end of time? Have a special session of congress (on a Sunday no less) and censure the coroner for filing an inaccurate autoposy? Frist's powers to diagnose are infallible. How dare the coroner contradict him!
:sarcasm:

frist of all, the proper technical term is "Remote Viewing of Balliform Structure Imaging Test" (or look at the pretty balloons!)

and then of course there's the incontrovertible fact that what the biased conspiracy autopsy notes didn't reveal is that she still might recover!

26. Here is his statement from March 16, 2005
Bill Frist (R-Tenn.), a renowned heart surgeon before becoming Senate majority leader, went to the floor late Thursday night for the second time in 12 hours to argue that Florida doctors had erred in saying Terri Schiavo is in a “persistent vegetative state.”

“I question it based on a review of the video footage which I spent an hour or so looking at last night in my office,” he said in a lengthy speech in which he quoted medical texts and standards. “She certainly seems to respond to visual stimuli.”

Look at that last sentence! Another day, another mistake.

You think this story deserves the dignity to die? The same dignity you denied the Schaivo family? Shame on you!

It will die when your aspirations for the GOP Presidential nomination go down in flames for '08, and that will be the time and place of OUR choosing.

Rot in hell you sick bastard, rot in hell!

18. Anyone Seen A Frist '08 Sticker Lately?
This dude must hate getting up these days. Let's see...there's getting aced out on the nuclear thing...even though the slimy judges got through, he caved to the moderates and didn't do it Dobson's way. Shame shame.

Then came the Bolton vote and he got clocked twice in one week. The cable talking heads were asking if he was "leadership material" and blood was in the water.

Now there's this vindication in the Schaivo situation and again, let's go to the video tape! Yep, there's Dr. Humana Bankfraud practicing malpractice on the Senate Floor. Damn straight he wants it out of the way and fast.

I don't think this guy knows which end is up right now...and that's not a bad thing since he'll be hesitant on pushing this regime's like he previously was.

He'll probably want to give it a thorough review before he makes his next diagnosis.

Thanks to Dr. Frist's actions, I've formed a second opinion about him. He shows only fleeting signs of sentience.

Calling Dr. Kervorkian!

I hope they say the same about you come election time, Frist. Guess you don't look too much like a doctor anymore, even though you play one in the Senate.

Anyone with any shred of medical integrity is laughing at you behind your back. You exploited a man's pain, and tried to force your will on the "sanctity of his marriage." You turned your back on oaths you swore to uphold. You think Gawd speaks to you. If he or she does, this is what you'd hear:

Your credibility is toast.

Even the Republican ones. When he made that bogus diagnosis, he lost their votes entirely. If he runs, all we have to do is remind them of that--it went against all medical ethics and standards.

33. Can M.D.s have...?
Can M.D.s have their license publicly pulled, or be thrown out of the A.M.A or whatever (similar to a lawyer being disbarred, or a priest being defrocked)? Something professionally embarrassing, something we can use against him? His "diagnosing" without Ms. Schiavo's records or a personal exam and using his "M.D." title in such a political fashion was blatantly unethical and professionally incompetant.

Does he still have a license? If not, why the **** is he diagnosing a bleepin thing? If so why does he still have a license? Is anything else in the way of professional competance required, or is it just paying the license fee? Does he have to belong to the A.M.A. or some other professional organization? Are there any other qualifications than med school that allows someone to use the title M.D.?

If I was an M.D. I'd be kinda pissed that Frist, after screwing up on something so rediculously basic, still calls himself a Dr.

37. The AMA isn't anything big to most doctors.
He's still a licensed, practicing physician (I know, why would anyone still see him, right?). He's still seeing patients, from what I've read in my husband's AMNews and all.

Your AMA membership is simply a check. It's not really worth much. Actually, membership is down, and fewer than half of all doctors are members anymore. We only keep up my husband's to keep an eye on them. We recycle JAMA without reading it, usually--piece of crap journal that it is. Sorry, but it is.

There are two things he's proud of: being boarded and being licensed. He's a board-certified surgeon--and that can get taken away if his particular area's group decides he's done something so bad that he cannot be certified anymore. That's kind of hard to do, actually. Those groups tend to stick pretty close together. On the other hand, most of the doctors in his area (cardio-thoracic surgery, if I remember right) are probably pretty ticked off at him.

The state licensure is something we could start the process on, but don't bet on anything happening to him. It's a political entity, usually with medical board members appointed by the governor. He probably knows all of them and has played the good-old boy network for all it's worth. He'd have to be high on crack during surgery (more than once, get caught, do rehab, and get caught again) to lose it.

The best thing we can do is write letters to the editor (many doctors read the papers) and write letters to AMNews (most AMA members read that, too). If we can erase his medical base, a huge source of funding and grassroots power for him, he is a non-contender.
