Could the commercials on AAR be any cheesier?
I know they are a young network and need to take whatever advertisements they can, etc., etc.

But man oh man are those commercials cheesy. Get rich quick schemes, weight loss natural products, hypnosis, personal injury lawyers. Not that some of the products might not help some people.

Maybe someday they'll get some better advertisers . . . or maybe not. Maybe this is targeted to their audience who is at home.

3. On Sirius AAR channel about 6 months ago
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 12:38 PM by proud2Blib
they were playing commercials for Sean Hannity's show. I would rather listen to the cheesy ads than commercials for Sean the Nasty Pundit.

5. Exactly
radio ads in general are not particularly sophisticated.

Cruise around the dial one day and you'll hear for yourself.

And I am tempted to track him down.

"Gee, Mark, Wal-Mart was the ONLY company that wouldn't tell you how long it takes to be a store manager? And that just impressed the shit out of you?"

8. I can't stand the teeth-grinding commercials.
What happened to the OnStar commercials?? I don't mind those so much, as long as they don't have someone on there screaming in pain.

17. OnStar is not so bad, but I wanna hear outtakes
you know there are OnStar calls they can't put on the air.

"Hello, OnStar, how can I help?"
"Hey yo, where can I find me a crack dealer?"

you heard it on AAR."

Whether or not you actually buy the product I leave up to you. :D

Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 12:57 PM by chalky
I'm going to have a stroke.
Over the past months I've heard it from some quickie-building company, some vision correction company, and two weeks ago Geico has started inflicting one on us.

JeezusPleezus but where the hell is the creativity in the marketing community these days??!!?!?

14. Man! I was just thinking the same thing
I use headphones at work and the commercials are SO BAD that I take the headphones off...but I guess my timing is off b/c when I put them back on, it's just more terrible commercials.

Some days I just dont' have the patience for AAR.

15. on KLSD San Diego, they run ads for the hillbilly station
which is also CC. And they use it to taunt us: "We're keepin' our country progressive...country music that is!!"

I have to turn the radio down for the teeth-grinding commercial. (BTW the Dr's NightGuard sucks. My g/f tried it and it is useless; no way to make that damn thing fit.)

There is some guy yelling at me every fifteen minutes about a land auction. I think he is trying to be irritating.

At least Gola Wolf Richards is gone.

20. Scams
I hate the scams.

Like the ad that sells the ability to cure vision problems without surgery and without glasses. As a person who has been myopic for fifty years I know that it's bullshit. Do people actually fall for that?

22. Hey! I don't know about you but I have pruchased several steel
buildings over the last 6 months! Do you know how many uses there are for a 40' x 100' steel building? And the construction costs are way less than conventional buildings!

That said, I admire a company being so bold as to advertise steel buildings on a liberal radio program, I hope their sales DID go through the roof (as it were).

23. You know which one I like?
Purple Ocean.org has a hilarious Darth Vader and Emporer/Grand Moff Tarkin sendup in one commercial (this is the streaming version) that has a really droll impersonation of Peter Cushing and compares the forces of Capital to the Evil Empire.

Nice.

28. Well as others have said....that's AM radio.....
anyways....soemthign interesting with Air Atlanta....

when they first started a lot of the commercials were geared towards as far as I could tell anyways - older men - lots of erectile dysfunction, herbal enzyte type stuff....

now it seems geared towards Women and a generally younger crowd: ovaltine, excema meds, vitamins and stuff.

interesting change, at least to me.
