36. the best is optiscan ...
w/ no more than one computer in any (large) precinct for people who speak some other language than the main five or six (like Urdu or Lao etc). It's the only reason you would need a computer. Can have paper ballots for that too.

Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 04:58 PM by SoCalDem
Tornados are the worst..BY FAR...

Hurricanes give you a week's notice...earthquakes are over before you have time to fear it or even react..

but you have not known fear until you have camped out in a dark (no electricity) spidery basement with crying kids, and yowling pets...FOR HOURS.. as the wind howls and the hail pelts the house...all the time trying to listen to a crackly weather station as they announce that "5 are on the ground within a 5 mile radius..." of where YOU are..

and it's usually about 80-90 degrees under that rickety desk you are hiding under:)

I guess I just get all nervous about huge earthquakes and that Monica Crowley? person just keeps on speculating that the increased seismic activity might mean a huge earthquake or something. I'm a paranoid person. A scaredy cat, really

63. Where you here for the Northridge one? I would agree with you for run
of the mill earthquakes but ones like the Northridge one - I have to say I would take a tornado over that because after the Northridge quake, my apartment was red-tagged and destroyed, most of my 'stuff' was broken. I had to move but there were few apartments to rent because so many people were displaced. That earthquake may have been over quickly, but I 'felt' it for many, many months afterwards trying to recover.

65. Ooh, I know
I was 8 and I remember trembling for a long time afterward. After that earthquake, I was also terrified about a bigger one and then I saw that awful "Big One" movie that traumatized me even more. I guess I haven't gotten over it 11 years later, hehe.
