Report from Symbolman at the Hearing and Rally!

Just heard from Symbolman - it was wild scene at the hearing. First off, the DNC people he was supposed to meet with left early without him, so he dashed over to the Capitol. And as you'd guess, he was greeted with "You can't come in here."

So John Conyers comes out of the room, and Sym approaches him and says, "I flew 6,000 miles from Hawaii to film this for the blogosphere so folks at the Democratic Underground, Afterdowningstreet.com, Buzzflash, Bartcop, Whatreallyhappened and others could see the hearings and rally, and I don't want to disappoint them."

Mr. Conyers promptly escorted him over to his assistant who let him into the room to film.

So when I talked to Sym, he was on his way over to the rally. More news to follow later...

that a bill was reportedly pushed through the House "today" to try and silence "whistleblowers," and a big news-blurb about major attacks on the Internet. The latter was a report issued late this afternoon.

34. Quick update

Heard from Sym again... all I have to say is the power of independent media and determined individuals is amazing.

Sym got a lot of good footage from the rally, but got there late. He got a bunch of interviews, got Conyers walking from the White House, his speech. He got some of the folks that spoke at the hearing, but I can't remember who he said right now. Code Pink's Medea Benjamin was there, he interviewed her, and Brad from Bradblog...

And an incredible thing happened: there was another videographer we met while filming Electile Dysfunction who came up to Sym, talked to him, and asked if he wanted some footage he filmed of the rally before Sym got there! Of course, Sym said yes, and the guy handed him two mini-DV tapes.

Nothing short of a miracle.

At that point, some of the folks at the hearing were summoning Sym over to interview one of the speakers from the hearing, so he got off the phone quickly.

So we're going to have quite a nice assortment of video to put on the DVDs.

with your camera equipment to record everything! I am SOOOOOOOO happy that you had the forethought to do that because, as far as I know, C-Span hasn't recorded the rally at the White House. I donated to get your DVD of everything--the hearing and the rally, and the interviews!


Thank you so much, symbolman (and American Stranger, too, for your moral support) for doing this! The two of you have been at the forefront of this battle since 2000! I am so proud to be a friend and supporter of both of you! You two are patriots and footsoldiers in this monumental battle we have had since 2000 and that we will fight to the end for our democracy!
