10. Before about an hour before
And I completely missed it, they have a very shrill alarm like way of screaming when a quake is bout to hit

Problem is they had not done that for years, hell Sunday they SLEP through it... so I completely missed it... I placed the three of them in their cages and covered them... which usually silences them...

Nope they kept at it... after the quake I apologized and comforted them, sun conure even got to shirt dive and just stay there for an hour or so... she was shaking, poor baby her third quake.

before the Asian tsunami.

22. Animals can feel it
of that I am convinced, but these guys are vets... so today I missed it...

Trust me, nothing like apologizing to three birds for missing it...

Worst yet, Connie, our sun, she is a Hawaiian bird, and she is NOT used to quakes... she gets car sick for god sakes.

4. Sigh....
Nothing yet in SF area. You generally want lots of small quakes - especially when others on the 'ring of fire' are getting mod-big ones. The longer the wait the higher the magnitude.

8. That makes sense
Thanks for the info. I've been in L.A. for only 5 years, so quakes are a bit new to me. I admit today was the strongest quake I've ever experienced and it scared me a bit, but only for 3 seconds. lol. Maybe a bunch of small quakes will prevent a huge one, as you suggest. That would be great!

I felt it at the beach in SF ... but it wasn't a big deal.

Could tell it was a big one though ... just very distant.

13. Someone on Coast to Coast predicted earthquakes in Cal. a few days ago
I don't take that show too seriously normally even though Art Bell was 100% right about why Bush took us to war in Iraq before it even started, but perhaps the guy is right. He was basing his predictions based on strong tides and the position of the sun and moon and how their gravity affected different areas of the earth.

Yes, I'm on the beach in San Francisco, right by Golden Gate Park and the Great Highway.

It was nowhere near as strong here because we are many miles from the epicenter, but definately felt it right at 11:21 p.m.
