My e-mail to CBS concerning David Letterman's comments on DSM

>>>Hello, I am interested in the Downing Street Memo thing that David Letterman brought up tonight with Bill Clinton. I have never heard of this before and would like to find out more. Can you send me any information on this?<<<

I just wanted to make them feel guilty for not doing their jobs and make them realize people are very interested in this.

1. I wouldn't play dumb
I'd ask them why an entertainment show is bringing up important issues that haven't made the nightly news?

3. They will get plenty of those kinds of letters
I wanted to try a different angle so they think it came from an independent not a partisan.

Think of it more as a form of DU Counter-Intelligence. I think it is a good way to get a feel how the media may really feel about it. Such trickery is quite common in times of war, and there can be no doubt, that this is a war of propaganda, conducted by the chimp administration, with the complicity of the media.

2. Great tactic!
Yes we are dealing with media that has a lot of pressure to censor information. We need to use creative tactics. I sent an email to my home town newspaper yesterday kind of chastised them for not reporting it and asserting my belief that political pressure had them bullied. Tonight I got an email telling me that they put it in their online newspaper. It's a start!

6. Use the hate group Focus on Everyone Else's Family website to
contact media and Congress. Tell them how your eyes have been opened, let them know that even their 'base' is fed up with the bullshit. Talk about looking like a non-partisan.

4. There is no excuse for the state of journalism today.
Journalists go to school where they learn the ethics of their profession. When they start working, however, they forget ethics and become lazy. A truly original story is a rarity. Mostly they just rewrite the stories the AP sends out on the wire. "Rewrite" is an exaggeration. They just change a few words here and there and pretty much copy the AP story verbatim. If a story is not on AP chances are it won't be told. Every once in a while someone writes a real feature but it is usually on some bizarre topic of no civic significance. There's a market gap for real original stories and insights and only the bloggers have the guts to fill that gap. Thank you bloggers. We love you.

5. can you summarize what Dave said?
I'm usually in bed by the time he comes on, so I never catch the show anymore.

9. I E-mailed CBS Evening News--asking them to cover the story..

If you go to this site and click on "Contact us"-- you-ll get a pop-up to send your letter:

http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/eveningnews/main3420.shtml

Here is my letter:

Dear Sir/Madam:

As you know, on May 1 of this year a document now commonly referred to as “|The Downing Street Memo” was released into the British Press. These minutes of a British cabinet meeting raise serious question about how the administration was handling intelligence related to Iraq and appears to suggest that the Bush Administration had already decided on war when publicly it was claiming that no such decision had been made.

This document suggest that the Bush administration was determined to “fix intelligence” around a predetermined policy.

It is most disturbing that there has been a little mention of “The Downing Street Memo” in most of the American media including CBS. Even more disturbing is the minimum coverage or discussion regarding strong, credible and independent evidence that the Bush Administration intentionally mislead the U.S. Congress, the media and the American people.

I do hope you will address this issue and provide more serious investigative journalism into this matter.

Furthermore, on Thursday June 16, 2005, Rep. John Conyers, Jr., ranking minority member of the House Judiciary Committee, and other House members held a hearing to consider testimony concerning the Downing Street minutes and questions of possible fixing of prewar intelligence. I trust you will be giving full coverage to this event and other events which examine this issue..

Sincerely,
