Disgusting Jeb Bush now going after Michael Schiavo!
One day after an exhaustive autopsy sought to end much of the controversy over Terri Schiavo's life, and eventual death, Gov. Jeb Bush said he plans to ask prosecutors to investigate whether her husband took too long to call for help on the night she collapsed in 1990.

A lawyer for Michael Schiavo called the governor's comments ''disgusting'' and said there was no delay in the husband's call for help.

Bush said Thursday that he had talked to Dr. Jon Thogmartin, the Pinellas-Pasco medical examiner, a day before Thogmartin publicly released the results of his autopsy on Terri Schiavo, who died on March 31 after a protracted legal and political battle.

Bush said Thogmartin told him he had gained access to information suggesting that there was a 70-minute delay between when Michael Schiavo first heard a ''bump'' in the early morning hours of Feb. 25, 1990 and when he eventually called 911.

''I have not seen or heard of this information before that there's some doubt about when she did collapse and how long it took for a phone call to be made,'' Bush told reporters. ``That is I think, worthy of some investigation.''

George Felos, an attorney for Michael Schiavo, attacked Bush and said that while his client was not able to remember exact times of what happened that tragic morning, he immediately called for help after his wife collapsed.

How long did it take you to seek help for your drug addled Daughter Jeb? Ooopsies, not until she was apprehended by the police for illegal prescriptions? why not before, jeb? When it was very apparent she was spinning out of control?? What Jeb?? I can't hear you!

:grr:

on edit: Found his statement the morning after her arrest...

"This is a very serious problem. Unfortunately, substance abuse is an issue confronting many families across our nation," the statement said. "We ask the public and the media to respect our family's privacy during this difficult time so that we can help our daughter. We will have no further comment on this issue. Thank you for your understanding."

10. This poor man is going to have to leave this state and
maybe even this country to get away from these insane fundies and the power abusing scumbag Jeb. He is willing to do anything for the fundie vote. No amount of Florida tax payers money is too much to spend if it can keep the fundie vote for Jeb and the GOP. Justice has nothing to do with it. If there was a case there then charges would have been filed 15 years ago when it happened.

12. If there really was a 70 minute gap, it can be explained
You're in bed asleep, your wife goes into the bathroom, you kinda hear a noise, you drift back to sleep. You wake back up and she's still not in bed, so you investigate. God, I've done this myself when my partner hasn't felt well and went into either the living room or the guest bedroom.

So, I guess the coroner was paid off by Michael, eh? Jesus.

The teeny bit of sympathy I had left for the Schindlers has dissipated.

Edited on Fri Jun-17-05 07:03 AM by soup
It was Sept. 7th.
But that was my first thought too, when I saw the headline this morning:

'Schiavo timeline troubles governor'

"What he did say to me that was troubling ... was that there was some doubt about when she collapsed and how long it took for a phone call to be made to 911," Bush said. "I think that is worthy of some investigation."

Gov. Bush calls for Schiavo probe

''I have not seen or heard of this information before that there's some doubt about when she did collapse and how long it took for a phone call to be made,'' Bush told reporters. ``That is I think, worthy of some investigation.''

"We have seen and heard of this information before and there's more than 'some' doubt about why a new Executive Order was needed," democrat in Tallahassee said. "That is we think, worthy of some investigation."

15. From the St. Pete Times..
http://www.sptimes.com/2005/06/17/Tampabay/Schiavo_timeline_trou.shtml

LARGO - Refusing to give up on the Terri Schiavo case, Gov. Jeb Bush has asked Pinellas prosecutors to sort out time discrepancies Michael Schiavo has provided regarding the hour he found his wife unconscious 15 years ago.

..cut...

Michael Schiavo has said he called 911 immediately after finding his wife collapsed on the floor of their home on Feb. 25, 1990. Though medical records indicate he called 911 about 5:40 a.m. that day, he told the Medical Examiner's Office recently that he found his wife about 4:30 a.m.

..more at link...

Michael not on trial,,, just answering questions about something that happened 15 years ago... and gives the wrong time.... BFD....

:grr: I hate Jeb more than *...

17. heh - let him do it - only serves him
in a negative light - if he does indeed have his sights on higher political office. What has worked for him in Florida *that is - national fundie and corp donors flood his coffers so he can run expensive and apparently appealing campaigns in florida* - is working against republicans nationally.

He showed that he "didn't get it" - the shifting political wins - when he came very close to forcing a police-type showdown to "save Schaivo". The more he engages in antics such as this - esp if they get high profile coverage... the more he damages himself with a public that is starting to get more than a little leery with the far/radical religious right and their access to govt (that is realizing that it is no longer a case of letting them believe what they want to believe - but that since they are getting power - they may just try to force their beliefs into our lives...)

19. Daily Show catches Frist in Big Lie
The Daily Show last night featured back-to-back clips of "Dr." Frist--first giving his "diagnosis" on the Senate floor last month, then from yesterday on the Today show, where he flat-out denied ever giving a diagnosis. Pretty sad--or funny--when you have to get the real news from Comedy Central.

20. Saw a write up - with Frist getting pretty angry
trying to defend himself - and NOW claim that he never gave a "real diagnosis".... though his rhetoric rather defies that.

Sniff, sniff senator... are you starting to smell your desired future candidacy going up in smoke? Keep up with your antics in the senate and that smoke could become flames (as in completely blowing up any chance you might have to be a front runner.)

23. I think it is strange
how these weasals refuse to accept the truth on this. The autopsy results were clear, and the people attempting to keep a still-breathing corpse "alive" were wrong. It reminds me of a psychotic fellow I used to talk to about boxing. He was convinced that Joe Frazier knocked Muhammad Ali out in the 10th round of their third fight, in Manilla. All boxing fans know Ali won by a TKO when Joe was unable to come out for the 14th round. I showed the film to this fellow a few times, but he was not able to process the realty of it. After we saw it, he was even further convinced that Frazier knocked Ali out in the 10th round. He had an excuse; Governor Bush does not.

but if she had stopped breathing, heart stopped beating over an hour before the ambulance arrived and resucitation efforts began, wouldn't she have been stiff and blue by the time they even started to revive her...then it took them 45 min. to an hour to get a pulse and sign of a heart beat..that means over 2 hrs without breathing/heartbeat...wouldn't she have been in rigormortis by then?

30. Speaking as a spouse and father here.
Sometimes noises in the middle of the night barely register. You might think your spouse dropped a hair brush or banged the toilet seat down while taking a leak causing the noise and dismiss. Hell the other night I slept through my 17 month old waking up at 2am, crying, my wife leaving the house to drive him around because I was so fucking tired.

Note to Jeb: Some of us have real jobs even more then one, you know the kind we get up for each day exhausted before it even starts. And seriously Jeb haven't you had enough mistresses make noise sneaking out that you wouldn't have noticed some noise either?

33. It has to be spun. It has to be.
Let's not forget that thugs like Jeb REFUSE to ever appear to be wrong. As the world learns that he and his fundie followers were wrong, he has to re-rally the "troops" as it were to place Terri's death BACK on Schiavo. Next, he'll blame Michael for not using the Baker Act or some other means to get her mandatory help for any eating disorder she may have had. 6 degrees of spin, exactly.

With them, it's always attack, attack, attack. We should be taking notes, sadly.

Various abuse claims have been floated and found more than wanting.

These people just can't stand it that the autopsy didn't somehow vindicate their little circus of legislative abuse and now are grasping at straws.
