Sunday is "Juneteenth" 140th Anniversary
http://www.juneteenth.com/

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.

From its Galveston, Texas origin in 1865, the observance of June 19th as the African American Emancipation Day has spread across the United States and beyond.

On “Juneteenth,” U.S. troops land in Galveston, TX to enforce ban on slavery that had been declared more than two years before by the Emancipation Proclamation

1. Thanks for the reminder.
When I lived in Texas, it was a significant date for some of the office personnel. They absolutely refused to work that date. It was kind of sacred to them.

I don't blame them. They have the right to this one day, at least, considering all the rights taken away otherwise.
