1000 posts/1715 dead

This is my 1000th post on DU. I kept putting off posting, not wanting to do a "Woo-woo" type post and not wanting to have my 1000th post be about Michael Jackson, or some tinfoil hat theory about earthquakes.

Then I realized: in the 11 months that I've been posting here, the number of American killed in Iraq has just about doubled -- 862 then, 1715 now.

I fear that by my 2000th post it may have doubled again. I pray that I'm wrong.

While there are times that DU (or at least some DUers) can be aggravating, I'm thankful that DU is here, creating a forum for the exchange of information.
