How can DU push the Pilger story uncovering the Bush Admin's Iraq lies?
If you haven't seen it already, here's the link to the Late Breaking News thread:

Seems pretty much like the smoking gun. Left to their own devices, however, I kind of doubt the Judy Woodruff, Chris Matthews, Bill O'Reilly axis will go out of their way to publicize it. What can we do to expand the coverage? Would it make a difference if Buzzflash, Bartcop, DU, Bush Watch and other progressive websites coordinated an email campaign encouraging visitors to contact the major media outlets? Any other ideas?

This time, it's not enough that we know. We have to make sure everybody knows.

1. it's in black and white...
http://www.usembassy-israel.org.il/publish/peace/archives/2001/february/me0224b.html

6 sections down...

"We will always try to consult with our friends in the region so that they are not surprised and do everything we can to explain the purpose of our responses. We had a good discussion, the Foreign Minister and I and the President and I, had a good discussion about the nature of the sanctions--the fact that the sanctions exist-- not for the purpose of hurting the Iraqi people, but for the purpose of keeping in check Saddam Hussein's ambitions toward developing weapons of mass destruction. We should constantly be reviewing our policies, constantly be looking at those sanctions to make sure that they are directed toward that purpose. That purpose is every bit as important now as it was ten years ago when we began it. And frankly they have worked. He has not developed any significant capability with respect to weapons of mass destruction. He is unable to project conventional power against his neighbors. So in effect, our policies have strengthened the security of the neighbors of Iraq, and these are policies that we are going to keep in place, but we are always willing to review them to make sure that they are being carried out in a way that does not affect the Iraqi people but does affect the Iraqi regime's ambitions and the ability to acquire weapons of mass destruction, and we had a good conversation on this issue."

4. I hear ya, but look at Watergate. It took ages for Woodward and Bernstein
to make that a story. Maybe we have to be prepared to put in the same kind of effort collectively. It's not impossible for us to become Thomas Paines or Committees of Correspondence. Kucinich is a good example of the determination we need to bring about change. Single payer health care and the injustices of the Patriot Act concern the media not a bit, but that doesn't make him shut up. I think he figures if he fights, maybe one day he'll win. If he doesn't fight, it's hopeless. Same for us. Pushing this story would be a good place to start.

6. Kick because any moment this thread will catch fire and
the Pilger story will spread everywhere and the Bush Administration will be overthrown and and and Julia Roberts will call me up tonight and and and maybe I'm getting carried away. Pushing the story still seems like a good idea to me.

7. See! It didn't die. Olberman covered it. Why not start pushing other
news organizations? Why not start pounding Congress with emails? It only takes one representative hammering the Cabal with the tape to maybe break it to a wider audience. Kucinich? Kerry? Graham? Edwards? If they want to be President, seems like they shouldn't hesitate to make the truth known to the American people. Maybe we can convince them their courage in taking on this issue will be rewarded.
