Poll question: POLL: Which conservative faction is most destructive to America?
I know it doesn't break down this neatly and some overlap, but I have an idea for a follow up on this.

I would like to here who has the worst EFFECT, not who is most personally repugnant to you.

8. yeah, but 1 at least is not an automatic ally
they weren't all in with the GOP until 1980.

I don't know if there's a way to peel them off, but they are not as seamlessly joined to the party as the foreign and domestic corporate whores.

3. Neo-Cons.
They are obviously who's driving the machine right now. They haven't given a whole hell of a lot to the religious right, despite all the rhetoric. Corporatists are part of the Neo-Con faction though. Who do you think profits from war?

4. I voted "Religious Right," -- but only for their numbers & delusion
Otherwise, I think that corpo-fascism is the most destructive. However, the corpo-fascists wouldn't be anywhere, without their pact of drooling looney toons and diamond-studded churches.

6. Corporate Whores by a nose!
With neocon-imperialists moving up fast on the home stretch. I have to give it corporate whores because this to me represents American Journalism today, and the neo-cons and racists could not have come to power if it had not been for their corporate owned media monopoly whores to brainwash the American People. We may not legalized slavery in the U.S. anymore but we have created a supercitizen above us (the corporation).

7. Yeah, it's tough.
And, don't forget the Dominionists and Apocalyptics are in the Religious Right, and a dangerous pair they are. But, not all of the Religious Right would be classified as Doms. or Apocs.

My personal favorite demon is whoever the hell is stealing the elections. That kneecaps our efforts to change any of it (including our efforts to have an effect on the media).

9. All these groups contribute to the ReichWing mindset.
But the RR are the ones who have given them the pure ideology meme, CuckooBananas is annointed by god. He does not have to answer to the normal checks and balances of a normal chief executive. It foments the extreme partisanship of the Congress, where the Repugs act as a single entity, with little or no dissent. CuckooBananas is never wrong, does not have to answer to any criticism--in fact criticism itself is unAmerican.

Maybe a good strategy is to attack this meme letting the rest of it collapse under its own weight.

10. there is some dissent in religious right
I wouldn't give ground on gay rights, but there are ways to add some distrust to their relationship.

12. Gosh I don't even think its close!
The neocons are all about endless war, paid for by our grandchildren! Get them out of the way and we can argue with the rest of 'em about religion etc down the road.

14. Tough call: deliberate libertarians or christian psychotics
I went with the latter, for the same reason our founding fathers gave us Article One: you can argue with assholes, but not with believers; never give believers an acceptance, because that's a guarantee of superiority for them. Advance your premise in the public forum and stand or fall by its acceptability; endorse god, and anyone else is inferior by definition.

15. this is worth a whole separate thread. The left has had two losing ways...
of dealing with religion:

patronizing people (it's all good, we're all people of faith here, blah blah blah)

dismissively calling it the opiate of the masses without going any further.

When people appeal to religion, you can't let them use it as a get out of jail free card, but you can't just mock them either.

You have to ask some simple obvious questions:

How do you know God said that?

How do you know what's in the Bible is from God?

So those guys who wrote it, they said God spoke to them?

If someone said god spoke to them, how would you know whether they were lying, mistaken, delusional, or if it's real?

If you get that far, whatever their answer is, ask them if that's solid enough evidence to harm others or deny their rights.

Then tell them to rent the movie FRAILTY with Bill Paxton (the perfect metaphor for the Bush presidency too).
