What will the final US death toll in Iraq be? |
|
I was thinking that it may be as high as 5000 by the time the last US troops leave (the word "last" may have a flexible meaning, seeing as how there could be permanant bases there for decades). Now I'm starting to think that the number could go as high as 10,000.

1. Because I'm optimistic that the tide is turning... |
|
I'll go with roughly 2800 dead.
Because Republicans like Walter Jones are turning against the President as are the American people, he'll have no choice but to do the (SHOCK!) right thing.
I see a pullout late next year or early 2007.

When will it end. I want them home NOW!!!! I have come believe that our presence there is causing more harm than good.

4. The real US toll won't be known for decades |
|
Some shit take time to kill people.
And, are we gonna count all the people who will die for lack of care/services due to cuts to finance the war? We gonna count victims of violence for decades due to the hate for America from the war? Are we gonna count those who die from broken hearts due to the war?
The death toll of war is NEVER counted accurately.

5. My number from day one has been 3,000. |
|
Reason, the American public won't tolerate more than 2000, the pull out will begin 4-6 months after we hit the 2000 mark, but sadly, it will not be an easy out and the stubborn neo-cons and Bush will be responsible for yet another 1000 soliders dead, instead of an immediate pullout or at least a 2-3 month pull out.

When bu$h starts using nukes we'll all be gone. Except for the few neocons who will be living in those underground bunkers.

8. Should we count the American civilians |
|
that are going to die in the next terrorist attack too, since this war only exacerbated the problem and gave terrorist organizations unprecedented recruitment levels, unlike our own military which can't hit a quota or even come close?

10. Should the final death toll include future deaths by reason of DU et al |
|
our military have been exposed to while on duty in the god-forsaken deserts of Iraq or do we play like those don't count, their deaths would not be attributable to the Iraq war?

11. I'd estimate 10,000 dead. |
|
100,000 injured.
One to two million dead Iraqis due to direct violence, probably ten million or so due indirectly to U.S. policy.
