As long as Gitmo is beyond the reach of the Constitutional checks and balances we will never know the truth about Gitmo.

5. Hell yea...........I'm old, but I wasn't then, just a kid really. |
|
But I remember how radio taught me to visualize thoughts, pictures, actions. How sound effects could paint a mental picture of a cowboy falling down stairs or a head snapping to the side from a bitch slap delivered by the heroine after an unchaste kiss.
I'm glad for the experience and I know it's one reason my children and I speak different languages. That John Lennon guy, he could imagine too.

6. Several - from the ACLU |
|
snip "Death of Ghost Detainees in Custody. Several statements refer to "ghost detainees" who died in custody, including one who died after being chained up in a shower area. Interrogators packed the body in ice and "paid a local taxi driver to take him away." (Note: this report may refer to Manadel a-Jamadi, whose death in Abu Ghraib has been widely reported in the news media.)" http://pirate.shu.edu/~jenninju/CivilProcedure/2ProceduralDueProcess/AbuGhraibAnnexesACLUPRMar2005.htm

7. Concerning calls to close Guantanamo |
|
I don't think anybody has died at Guantanamo. However, there are about forty detention facilities around the world in Mr. Bush's gulag network, of which Guantanamo is one, and there have been over a hundred deaths reported in these.
It isn't important whether this or that concentration camp in this network is closed. Closing Guantanamo is not going to mean that the rights of prisoners of war and other protected persons under the Third and Fourth Geneva Conventions and the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment are going to be respected at the other camps. That those rights be respected and that the respect be independently verified is that on which we need to insist.

several more alluded to. Catch the CSpan clip from the "forum" that Sensenbrenner threw a hissy fit at. It is discussed there also.

10. I could be wrong about there being no deaths at Guantanamo |
|
However, since that is a "ghost" detainee, it probably isn't very well documented.
That is not to be construed as a defense of the Bush regime. The existence of ghost detainees should be part of any bill of particulars to draw up against members of the regime in future war crimes trials, even if it can be shown conclusively that none of them have died. We know that there have been ghost detainees at some facilities, such as Abu Ghraib, and that this practice was authorized by Mr. Rumsfeld. Why is that war criminal still the head of the Pentagon?
The point I'm making is that no one individual facility in Bush's network is the problem. The problem is the systematic violation of human rights.
