After ** held that guy's hand gas went down about $.25. Now it's |
|
back up, about $.30 and rising. $2.39 in Wisconsin.
Would somebody tell him to bring the sheik back to the flower garden (but this time, it's gonna take more than hand holding.)

1. I'd prefer price controls |
|
and jail time for any gas station operator who breaks the law.
I don't care what the economists say.

2. We already have price controls on gas |
|
there are about 150K of them in Iraq right now, and the oil is just trickling out of there.
Cheap oil is history. In the next year or two, we will be facing real problems in availablity. We could have started conserving in the 70's and 80's, but America had to 'feel good about itself again' whatever that means, in this particular case, it meant a pickup truck or SUV in virtually every garage.
Oil would come down respectably if everyone drove the equivalent of a 76 civic.
But we know that won't happen until the price makes it happen. Next time someone runs for office and does not mention oil conservation, don't vote for them. That is about the best you can do now.

The oil problem will, in my opinion, be the defining issue of the 21st century. And conservation, while laudable, is like treating cancer with aspirin and band-aids.
