who said "well, my ancestors never lynched anyone, I resent digging this up... blah blah". The author of the book (who was really great) asked him "well did they try to STOP a lynching?" Minnesota, home of "niceness", was the site of the largest mass hanging (lynching)in history. 38 Lakota's were hung in the town square Mankato in 1867. Folks came from all over for the show, packed a picnic lunch, brought the kids. In Duluth Minnesota, 4 african americans were lynched as recently as 1938.
