Who the Hell is David Limbaugh? |
|
Is this Limpballs brother? I happened to catch Sean Hannity on the radio as I was changing CD's. He had this joker on who wrote a book about how liberals are persecuting christians!! Not kidding, the title of the book was actually something like Liberal Persecution of Christians!!!
I'm so tired of being called a "godless" person because I am a liberal. As if the Americal Taliban (Christian Coalition) is such a Xtian body. I thought with the right wing falling all over themselves at the feet of the gang-banging, dope smoking, woman groping, pro-choice Ah-nold, their "family values" argument would die.
"Jesus was a liberal".

1. I hate to say it, but Limbaugh's less talented brother |
|
...Apparently God loaned him less talent that he did Rush.
Be wary of any group who claim "persecution" so shamelessly as some Christians do.

David LIEbaugh's bullshit interview last night before I had to change the channel due to a vomit alert.
As a liberal Christian (yes, we do, indeed, exist, lol!), I am SO DAMN TIRED of the fundie nutballs co-opting Christianity in this country, claiming that THEY are the only true Christians (when Christ wouldn't recognize them at all as followers), that only THEY have a hotline to God, or at least THEIR version of God, that this country was founded by Christians (no, it wasn't!), that they're being persecuted and hounded mercilessly (frankly, it's the other way around)!
These people are full of shit, and I'm sick to death of it. They twist and distort Christianity so that it would be unrecognizable to God himself, they hound and persecute those who don't follow lockstep with their "beliefs", then whine and weep and wail and knash their teeth over their so-called "persecution." They're like white males claiming discrimination!
And I'm sick of being made to feel like I'm not a "true" Christian by these people! They do NOTHING for their fellow man but put him down and keep their feet on his neck and chase after money, and they think THEY'RE the only true Christians?
Whew, sorry for the rant, it just really pisses me off!

13. THANKS! but What do we do about it? |
|
I am well aware that there are a lot of liberal Christians. We seem to be the ones that Jesus talked about when he said you should basically go into your closet and pray in private.
I'm not a deeply religious man. I was raised catholic, but attend the Greek Orthodox Church with my wife and kids. (Beautiful ceremony and belief system by the way).
It seems like it will be hard to win politically when half of America seems to think that God is on the Repukes side.
Makes me so angry.

My two cents' worth on this, and you might agree with me, is that Christians, or at least most of those who call themselves Christians, are the most profoundly paranoid people in America. I had a close friend who was, and is, a Christian, and he used to say this stuff about how they're constantly being persecuted and put down. When I asked for examples, he'd just say, "It's all around, it's everywhere." A few years ago there was a Christian movie that came out (anyone remember the name of it?) that revolved around a near-future society where Christians were a brave band of freedom fighters against a society that been taken over by Satan. I actually went to see that movie with my friend, and it was the most deeply paranoid thing I've ever seen. I realized while watching it that Christians actually want the end of the world to happen and the sooner the better, since they know that their side is going to win. Apocalypse is not something to be avoided, but sought after and, if necessary, provoked. They just can't wait for Armageddon and they welcome the prospect of global conflagration.

Who you calling paranoid? Why are you against me? Why do you hate me? WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME?????????
Sorry, couldn't resist the opportunity to be obnoxiously sarcastic, lol! I know exactly what you mean about the paranoia of Christians, and I have no clue as to why that is. I have noticed it a helluva lot more, however, in the fundie evangelical nutball sector where all they think about is the rapture and the apocolypse, which a lot of other Christians don't even believe in. That's why they don't seem to care all that much about people in need, or people in general, for that matter.
Liberal Christians are so busy doing what Christians are supposed to be doing anyway, little things like feeding the hungry, helping the homeless, people who are hurt, etc., that I guess they don't have time to be paranoid, lol!

5. Yes, he is pigboy's brother |

I saw his book at Borders and wondered, WTF? Fundamentalist christians feel that they are being persecuted by: The public school system, since teachers can no longer open class with bible readings and prayer. The media, for allegedly portraying them as stupid and fanatic on tv and in movies (I'm guessing they don't like "Inherit the Wind" very much). Also the media projects impure images of the human body and offensive language to their beliefs, which are of course more sacred than anybody else's beliefs.
Fundamentalist christians have a vested interest in seeing those who disagree with them suffer. If liberals win a victory over them, such as the banning of school prayer in the 60s, they have a deep need to see those people suffer the wrath of their god to justify their own beliefs. The freepers are always saying such and such a person is going to hell, whether it is doctors who perform abortions, women who seek them or anyone who votes for a pro-choice candidate.

the good news is, they are going to eventually run out of condemning by-lines for their books. After they go from 'librul treachery' to 'persecution of xtians', there isn't much else to do...
though I won't be surprised to see the next Coulter: "Murder: How Libruls are killing people for the fun of it"

9. Right wingers and other manipulators love the victim stance. |
|
Ralph Reed, when he was head of the Mammon Coalition -- oh, excuse me, they blasphemously refer to it as the CHRISTIAN Coalition -- used to like to pretend Christians were under some big assault in this nation. They love to claim the legacy of civil rights leaders. Notice that proponents of vouchers attack opponents of vouchers by sneering that the latter should "stop blocking the schoolhouse door," as though they were racists barring integration!
Yes, these are manipulative, underhanded people.
David Limbaugh is also evidence of the RW gravy train, which has over the years supported the likes of Star Parker, Gary Aldrich, and God knows what else. The books are created to preach to the choir. Fortunately, their "popularity" is also fleeting.

11. Problem is Limbaugh II equates Christianity with Fundamentalism |
|
He points out that sensativity training telling us that we should be nice to homosexuals is a sign of discrimination. That's a dead give away of what sort of "christian" wing nut jr. really is.
I'm annoyed by this moronic book because it serves no purpose other then the continued demonization of christianity via misrepresentaion.
Just more ammo for the equally dishonest anti-theist to use to further their goal of destroying religion.

16. We need to talk about the settings on your radio |
|
How, exactly, did your radio get tuned to a Hate Radio station?
And what actions do you intend to take to ensure it never happens again?
Y'know, if you were to come to see me tomorrow night, I could sell you a cold chisel. Pop that damn tuning knob right off the radio. Problem solved.

I normally listen to some good old rock and roll CD's, but I have my AM station to KMJ so I can get the traffic and weather when I need it. Happened to pop out "Live Rust" to replace with "Quadrophenia" and I heard Sean Insanity talking to this Limbaugh guy about his book. Sorry, but it was just like watching a train wreck. I just couldn't turn away. I did get so angry that I almost drove off the road though.
I also subscribe to Michael Corleone's mantra of "keep you friends close, but your enemies closer". I think it is important for us to occasionally find out what the Hate Radio folks are up to.
Finally, tell me an AM station that is not completely inundated with these cookie cutter haters. It is on 24/7 out here in the vast wasteland of the San Jauquin valley.
