Clark sat out Vietnam, he claimed "back problems" which were miraculously cured right after we withdrew. Only then, did he decide to enter the service. As much as we dislike Bush, at least he wore a uniform during the war. So, he was in the National Guard, he could have been called up. Yeah, it was kind of a duck of service, but not a total duck of service.

Clark served with distinction in Vietnam, and was wounded in combat there.
