Pensacola judge orders bumper stickers for drunken drivers
http://www.usatoday.com/news/offbeat/2003-09-23-bumper-sticker_x.htm

PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) — Some motorists convicted of drunken driving are being ordered to put bumper stickers on their cars that ask "How's my driving?" followed by a toll-free telephone number and the statement "The judge wants to know!!!"
Escambia County Judge William White said he hopes the bumper stickers, which include an identification number for each driver, will reduce repeat offenses for driving under the influence of alcohol.

"We want to influence people to correct their behavior rather than just use this as sort of a monitoring system," White said.

White said he tried to use bumper stickers saying only "Convicted DUI" in the past simply to shame violators. He hopes the call-in stickers will be a stronger deterrent.

In late August he began ordering motorists convicted of drunken driving to pay an annual fee of $50 to enroll in the monitoring system offered by the I Saw You Safety and Scholarship Foundation as a condition of probation.

3. Thanks
Thanks, and, do you think this judge is getting money for each bumper sticker he "sells"?

5. a scarlet 'D'?
Isn't it standard practice to suspend or revoke the license of someone convicted of DUI? Why would they even be on the road?

Does the sticker come off when probation has been finished, or is this a life-long thing?

So, say someone has a grudge against this particular person, can they call anonymously and say, "hey, this person was driving aggressively and took my parking spot at Walmart. I think they're drunk. Come and get 'em."?

Suppose it's the family vehicle. Another member drives it somewhere.
1. car is keyed/ spit on/ -whatever- because of sticker.
2. driver is confronted because of sticker.

Noticed this is in conjunction with a teen driver program. What's next:

I am a Democrat/ anti-war /anti-Bush /pro-choice, etc. sticker. How's my driving?

Note: I do not condone drinking and driving. just food for thought.

Welcome to DU, 7th_Sephiroth. :hi:
