Concerning the DSM, can you explain the story about the media knowing that Bush was lying that is posted on the blog on the opening page of DU. Andrea Michell knew that the gov't was lying but did nothing? Further I am reading at Raw Story that the AP is "flooding" the media with the story. Sorry if I am not up on stuff as usual. I have been taking a step back from politics the last week. I was just getting angry and my therapist wants me to clam down a bit. On the silly side, I understand Jeb Bush wants to arrest Michael Schiavo for not looking after her properly before the coma? Or some nonsense. I believe they should remake "Dumber and Dumber" starring the Bush brothers and call it. Dumber and Crazy."

In a letter sent to United States Senators on Saturday, June 18, 2005, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich called on the Senate to censure Senator Richard Durbin for his speech comparing U.S. servicemen serving in Guantanamo Bay to those of the Nazi Gestapo, Soviet KGB, and Pol Pot's killers in Cambodia.

"Senator Richard Durbin has dishonored the United States and the entire U.S. Senate. Only by a vote to censure Senator Durbin for his conduct can the U.S. Senate restore its dignity and defend American honor," Gingrich wrote.

"By voting for or against the censure, the rest of the members of the U.S. Senate can go on record and make clear how they judge Durbin's characterization of American soldiers." Gingrich continued, "It will also send a clear message to terrorists who will use the words of a Senate leader against us that the Senate stands in support of America and our military and against those who seek to destroy the free people of the United States.

The administration has argued it has the right to hold the prisoners as long as the war on terrorism continues.

The committee’s top Democrat, Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont, said the United States may face terrorism “as long as you and I live”. He asked Brig Gen Thomas Hemingway, who oversees military trials of prisoners, if that means America can hold the prisoners that long without charges.

“I think that we can hold them as long as the conflict endures,” Hemingway responded. Deputy Associate Attorney General J Michael Wiggins testified later,“it’s our position that legally they can be held in perpetuity”.

I was commenting on the story on Faux News about pinning down Bush as to when we will begin to with-drawl. I am not sure whether with drawling will be the major issue, if any in 2006, but I do believe the bad numbers with Bush and Congress will be part of it.
