Email from Rep. Slaughter (re: Iraq Audit)
Edited on Sat Jun-18-05 07:03 PM by frictionlessO
This is simple enough to do folks, remember we just did it with the Conyers DSM letter...

Saturday, June 18, 2005

Dear "Fric",

I wanted to thank you for joining me in demanding an Audit in Iraq.

During World War II, Harry Truman established what became known as the Truman Commission which consisted of a group of dedicated public servants who were committed to examining all financial and military transactions related to the war effort. Their work served to expose and eliminate any waste, mismanagement, or corruption which put our troops in harms way.

With more than $9,000,000,000 lost or wasted, forming a Truman Commission is the only way we can bring real financial accountability to the war in Iraq.

The Republican Majority doesn't want to, "show us the money."

If there is anything I've learned from the ongoing ethics fight in Washington it is this... when the people rise up and make their voices heard, even Congress can't stand in their way.

That is why I need your help in spreading our call for accountability.

More than 2,500 people have added their name to our petition calling for an Audit in Iraq.

In the next week we must reach out to another 10,000 like minded Americans so that our voice will be magnified and we can create a groundswell of support for our cause.

Please use the following link to tell 10 of your friends, family, neighbors or co-workers about or efforts to bring accountability to Iraq:

Our message is simple. Our cause is just. Our voice is unwavering.

We demand the truth and we will not rest until we get it.

Thank you again for lending your support to this very important campaign for change.

Warmly,
Louise

3. I don't see the issue here, Represenative Slaughter.
Is an audit on Iraq more important to conduct first?

I'm just trying to see the steps of which this investigation must be approached.

Auditing all the money of this corruption must be done first, etc., before bringing in a prosecutor to look over the official evidence records?

5. Good question Lightning, from what Im gathering this initiative is part
of a multi prong attack from the Dems on Iraq. Look at it this way we know that there is wrongdoing going on one of the best ways to nail down some of those wrong doings is to follow the money. Hence why this is very very important as well and I believe deserving of your attention.

Thanks for reading it though.
