What are your thoughts on Dennis and "French Fries"News Conference?

I can't recall any posts here about it.

If I'm not missing something it is another BIG DRIP in the rain puddle that will lead to more bravery on the part of Republicans.

Is that wishful thinking?:eyes:

1. Humans are susceptible to something I like to call
a 'fulcrum+' effect.

When the balance shifts past the fulcrum... it shifts hard and fast.

We're at "fulcrum-" right now... so we'll see.

2. I did a search and could not find one thread

about their press conference.
Am I one of the few that saw it?

11. Should that happen...
Americans will suffer a serious economic fallout. (It'll make The Great Depression look like the 90's.)

Not that there won't be bad times ahead anyway, but if this administration is impeached - we're in trouble for decades... maybe even a century.

3. In my eyes it proves these cowards are waking up to the fact they....
And everyone else, was deliberately lied to. Hopefully that means John Warner is growing a real spine and will push for FULL investigating the damned minutes, given constituents not leaving him alone over it. If he does, then other republicans are sure to follow...

John Warner is one of the most vocal supporters of the war.... :nuke:

6. John Warner would be a big DRIP !

If I didn't know better it seems planned.
All these drips coming out of left field.

I am trying not to read much into it but Dennis and French Fries blew me away!

4. I saw their press conference on C-Span right after the Conyers hearing.
Like you, I was wondering why there were no threads on DU about it. Dennis and Walter Jones (and a couple of others--I forget their names) have formed a bipartisan task force to introduce a bill proposing a timetable for withdrawal of American troops from Iraq. It seems to me like the timing for this is absolutely perfect, and I wonder why there hasn't been more discussion about it.

7. Yes...and Kucinich was jockeyed out by Jones. He had to
push his way to the mike. I didn't see any other coverage but I don't watch much of the cables. Walter Jones did get covered on CNN Headline news and I saw a blurb on CNN inbetween the "Runaway Bride to give first interview" and "Aruba." :eyes:

They don't care about Kucinich, though because he's "old news" like DSM since he voted against IWR. Jones is a big deal because he's ONE OF THEM....and they got lots of mileage out of "Freedom Fries." Whore Media! :puke:

14. Exactly
He's definitley going to be a key player and end up taking all the credit away from those like Conyers and Kucinich who have been on this since the beginning. The tides are turning and this shows it.

15. I would be thrilled if a Rethug like this

would take all the credit.
Maybe that way they could realize that it is not about Democrats vs. Republicans.
It's about senseless killing.

10. Same here.
I do admire people who can admit when they're wrong. Jones was asked how his change of heart was being received by his constituents in Texas, & he said that he'd rather do the right thing & lose an election than to do the wrong thing.

He also said that his epiphany came when he went to a military funeral in Texas & listened to someone read a letter written by the deceased, who had left a set of twins he had never seen & another child. He said he was very emotional during the 71-mile trip back home.

Now, regardless of whether or not their bill is successful, it seems to me that if this man can change his convictions, there's hope for others, too. Jones was one of the most vocal cheerleaders for the war & was responsible for changing the Capitol's commissary menu from "french fries" to "freedom fries" in a dis to France's refusal to go along.

The next day it was reported that the WH said there would be no troop withdrawal. (Too much money in it for them.)

I am grateful for him coming forward and being honest etc. Unlike some people he can admit when he's wrong. I am weary of why now of course but better late then never. Maybe he was waiting to see if the DSM documents were really official and all that. Maybe now we can try to push for an official hearing of the DSM in Congress instead of in the basement of the Capital. At least he has been to funerals to show he cares and his support.

17. I think we need to accept with pleasure

the fact that he has changed his mind on this.
After all those are the people that we are trying to convince.
