UK DU'ers: Is the UK working on a new law that forbids hate talk against |
|
religion?
I read this on a UK forum in response to a person comparing a sci-fi species' mentality to that of the fundamentalist Islamists: "Careful. Under proposed new legislation, even suggesting such a thing could land you in jail."
In other words, are there any laws being considered saying that you can't speak up against the acts of religious fundamentalists; and by doing so one could go to jail? (in America, despite the neo-Xian movement, I don't think that our sheeple would go along with it - but solely because of the 1st amendment. For now, anyway.)

1. to outlaw incitement to hatred of people on the grounds of their religion" |

which is not quite the same thing. It would, for example, apply to the equivalent of Freepers targeting for abuse someone in the street who was obviously a Muslim, or indeed a Jew. http://www.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,,1509183,00.html
