"Commander in Chief"-getting us ready for female president?
http://abc.go.com/primetime/schedule/2005-06/commander.html

This new show portrays Geena Davis as the VP of a president who is dying. The website has peeks of 3 segments in the 2 hour premiere (not yet scheduled on ABC). The first segment shows 2 officials trying to tell her she should resign because they need a "Repug" president.

The snip below is from another website:http://www.ananova.com/entertainment/story/sm_1305960.html?menu=entertainment.celebrities

<snip>One political observer Dr. June Speakman, a political science professor at Roger Williams University, Rhode Island, told the New York Post: "If Geena Davis is portrayed as a decisive strong leader, I think it might help shape voters' perceptions.>

What's your opinion? Could this new show help a Hillary or Barbara become president?

1. No, they just don't have any ideas left.
It's sad, really.

8. Originality is a scarce commodity in Hollywood and on TV these days
Don't you love it when a studio comes of with an idea and then the others rush to make the same type of movie. It even extends to TV now. The new season will have two TV shows that take place at a fertility clinic. Then will have "Tru Calling," "Medium" and the "Ghost Whisperer" all three TV shows main characters who are female somehow are able to talk to the dead and prevent crimes from happening or are able to solve crimes.

9. I like "Medium" but the storyline is getting a little weird.
It seems like the husband is always taking a lot of shit from her. I don't know, I female too. But the show is getting kind of repeatitive.

12. I watched the first couple episodes and I just couldn't get into it
though I have never really been a big fan of ghosty type of shows. My girlfriend who watches it when she can said the exact same things about it. I think its funny that we will have three shows next season. Which is probably two too many. Actually after looking over the next seasons schedule looks like I will be still watching nothing more than Law & Order, Law & Order SVU, TCM, TLC and the Discovery Channels. Though I have seen a couple of episodes of the show "House" and that looks rather good.

2. Hillary or Barbara?
aren't they opposed to the 2nd amendment? Sounds great if you don't care much for the bill of rights and want to lose for sure. Hillary voted for the war too. We need someone like Dean, right about the war, right about freedom.

4. It's been done before
In "Hail To The Chief", Patty Duke played a woman president.

7. That's right
But I don't think she was faced with cleaning up the chicken mess that we're in now, was she? My memory is not happy with me right now.

10. I thought I was the only one who remembered that show.
Remember the Falwell-clone preacher who turned out to be a KGB agent?

11. Personally...
I think they're banking on Condi '08. God forbid... Oh, wait, I said that in '04. Obviously, Nietzche was right, "God is dead".

LOL

I think we'd have to go down the line of succession pretty far before we found someone with no puppet strings attached.....say, a delivery boy???
