For these right wing media whores selling the war from their comfy chairs
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 12:28 AM by norml
For those who are encouraging others to join up. For those right wing media whores claiming to be too old to join themselves. You know you could always drive a truck for Halliburton, or work for some sort of private security service in Iraq, if you think it's so important to go over there that you shame others for not going, while you sit behind your microphone, in your comfy chair.

6. well the Australian mercenary recently released
was sixty something and had a heart condition so don't see why anyone of any age couldn't do something.

everyone could do what Doug Wood did, make a motza out of the occupation, get kidnapped by insurgents, plead for the Aust government's help (even though you've been a US resident and taxpayer for 20+ years) and then talk about going back when released, after all as he said there's "lucrative business opportunities" to be had.

my view, you like this "war" go fight it

7. Bingo
And instead of sending your little pampered brats off to fancy colleges to party and join sororities/fraternities, enlist them! Let them save up for college through the G.I. Bill just like the po' folk do (be nice for them to work for something for once).

Here is the contact info for the local military recruiters.

I am going to err on the side of caution and be very selective with what information I post. DU moderators seem to be very conservative about how much contact information is too much.

I've deleted direct email addresses and the names of individuals.

Additional contact info available upon request.

9. When I called, the Army said to contact their Public Affairs office
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 09:45 AM by IanDB1
Army Public Affairs Office
301-677-7034
301-677-7029

I called Public Affairs, and gave them the contact info for The Young Republicans that was prominently listed on their web site and therefore intended to be made public.

College Republican Convention
If you have any questions, please contact Stephanie Holmes at 202-608-1411

How come The College Republicans' "resources" web page doesn't have links to any recruiters?
http://www.crnc.org/links.cfm

I think we should all call them.

10. Called the Navy. They were un-aware of the convention, too.
So far, neither the Army nor the Navy had been contacted to cover this event.

I was told to call Navy Public Affairs:
804-771-2001 ext 126

I spoke to a chief there, who transfered me to The Enlistment Programs Officer. The person in charge wasn't in, so I gave a message to their assistant.

He asked me what I wanted The Navy to do there at the convention.

I said maybe you could set-up a booth in the lobby. "Or, you could just walk around talking to people like you do at the mall. These are all people who supported the pResident and his policies, so you should have easy pickings there." I told him to call Stephanie Holmes to work-out the details.

So, if anyone else wants to call, the number is 804-771-2001 and ask for The Enlistment Programs Officer.

My next call is going to be to The Young Marines.

12. The Navy and the Air Force are not having any difficulty getting people.
It's the Army, and the Marines who are having difficulty getting people. Though it's a good idea you have there. They can try to qualify for the Navy or the Air Force if they want to.

My point is that even those who don't qualify for the military could still seek employment with the private companies looking for people willing to work in Iraq. If they like the war so much there are lots of ways they can go fight it in person.

13. My grandfather served in WWII even though he was diabetic
He enlisted and worked a motor pool here at home, and worked at a facility rehabilitating blinded soldiers.

I just got his Army stuff from my mom a few weeks ago. His Army Bible, dogtags, discharge card, etc.

There's no excuse to say you can't go-- unless you're gay.

Try using this line when confronting them:
"Is that why you won't enlist, Republican? Is it because you're a damn homo?"

Anyway, do you think we could find a list of companies hiring people to work in Iraq?

11. So now I called The Navy, The Marines and Air Force
For Young Marines, all I got was voicemail.

The Navy gave me the number for their Public Affairs office:
Sgt. Campbell
301-567-4248

I left him a message. His out-going message says that if it is an emergency, you can call him on his cell phone. I won't post his cell phone number here, but if you want it, just call his voicemail.

I left a message for The Air Force Recruitment Public Affairs at 301-567-4248 in the voicemail box of Sgt. Campbell. He's covering for the Commander who will be out until June 27th.

At the US Marine Corps I called Master Sgt. Edwards
703-784-9454
Left voicemail.
