Dobson paints SUCH a bleak picture of my Future.... |
|
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 07:30 AM by BiggJawn
I felt like I was in a time machine...
Dumbass Dobson the Dominionist was talking this AM about who is more "pitiful", single men, or single women? Well after a few snips about "old Maids" and "Unclaimed Blessings", he determins that single men actually have the raw end of the stick.
We're more likely to be alcoholics or druggies, we pay more for car insurance, we're more likely to be ex-ofenders, Landlords won't rent to us, and Banks won't loan to us.
But when we hook-up with a WOMAN....Well! By virtue of her being able to "harness our Sexual Energy", we actually transform into responsible, productive members of Society!
Fancy that!
Well, I can't get a bank loan, he's right about that, but it's because my ex-wife had a car repo'd that I couldn't get my name off the loan.
Oh, BTW, my Insurance Company charges me about 60% of what the lizard quoted me, and just announced this past week that they're reducing rates across the board.
Dumb sum-bitch. Oh, yeeah, I'm just a wild Unicorn that needs to be tamed by a Virgin or something...Dobson's getting his mythologies all mixed up here.... <grumble>

6. It was either "unclaimed" or "unpicked" blessings.... |
|
Doesn't that just make you feel SPECIAL (church lady voice) if you're a single woman?

That is an old phrase frequently used back in the days when the Solid South voted Democratic. I have heard it often usually followed by the comment, 'Bless her heart'. These are old-fashioned southern ways to say 'the broad is a loser'.

Married evangelicals, the pillars of society, with higher divore rates the the general "sinners" in society. He is so short sighted. I wish these people would start being supportive of people and talking to them like they were smarter than a box of rocks. I hate to say it but I just can't stand these people. God save us from these big neo con idiots.

7. I'm gonna use that line in my letter to the station manager... |
|
He NEVER uses that minute to state the radical cleric agenda he's pushing for. It's always a little homey homily, full of warm fuzzies, invoking memories of "Ozzie and Harriet"...
Wish he'd spend a minute sharing his thoughts on dog training....

9. This Is How Dobson Got So Big |
|
Stealth...and deception.
He comes off as that folksy, nice preacher type, and he can sweet talk with the best of 'em. Isn't that what a great charlatan does? He doesn't have to scream fire and brimstone...in fact, just tell a couple "aw shuck stories" and rope in the sheeple when they let their guard down.
His concept of "a better world" is where there's a strict order and women definitely are that "half step" behind the man. Her place is to provide comfort and children while the man does all of "god's work". Whites have the prominent role as well, since, well Jesus was a white male, wasn't he? Of course he was. And Christian, of course, because this is a "Christian" nation, and those who don't understand this are out to destroy Christianity and with it the nation, the world and so on.
Dobson wants to scare you. He wants you to feel inadequate, lacking...in need of his advice. Then he gives you that "feel good" if you fit some, if not all of his "good" catagories.
He doesn't want you to know about his life...he's too busy making you want to live up to his expectations.

8. Dobson can't decide if he's a Dominionist |
|
or just a plain- old fashioned quack. Ignore him. I mean, how many men would have the audacity to write a book called "What Wives Wish Their Husbands Knew about Women" or some such tripe? How the hell does any man know? Has he given birth? Ever had boobs? A period? Sex with a man?
He's a fecking idjit. Single men and single women can be quite happy, healthy and well adjusted. We don't need that backward-looking fool to tell us how to live. We need to...oh, never mind, Agents Mike and Bob might like Dobson too much....

13. I guess I'm an "old maid" or a spinster |
|
Funny thing is, I don't recall that Jesus or the apostle Paul were married or advocated marriage... quite the opposite. There are no "nuclear" families in the New Testament or the Old Testament, which usually had "extended" families. They've invented a construct of their ideal lifestyle, which has absolutely no basis in Biblical religion, and then they proceed to trash everyone who doesn't fit into it.

14. they also provide child-rearing advice |
|
Good or bad, some people are desperate, and they use that to weasel people's home/email addresses.
My girlfriend had a very difficult child, and I noticed some "Focus on the Family" crap around her house. She said it was the only source she could find for information on how to "manage" the little girl (she died of breast cancer a few years ago, and we helped out for a while with the daughter, who was indeed a "challenging" individual)
