We don't have money for education, prescription drugs for the elderly, |
|
or any assistance to needy children but boy, somehow the money materializes out of nowhere for a war launched by an arrogant fool under pretexts even his own ally now disowns. The cost of that war has approached $300 billion if his numbers can be believed and it is going to skyrocket from now on.
If Scotte Ritter is correct, he has already launched surreptitious operations inside Iran as a ploy to notch up his sagging popularity.War seems to be the only strategy he knows. With that will come more deaths, more money for his war toys, more preening and, of course, elimination of what little the elderly and the children can expect.
He is a truly evil incarnate;has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

to know that history will record this regime as the most corrupt, cowardly, incompetent, and thuggish of all?
No, not me, either. But, I believe Scott Ritter, and I am certain that there is going to be another "attack" within the US which those White House bastards will claim is connected to Iran, that there will be all sorts of revisiting of the 1979-1980 hostage-taking in Iran, and then we will do something awful to them.
What's really horrible is that there's an article in the new Vanity Fair by Christopher Hitchens, and he discusses the liberalism and love for America and craving for democracy on the part of the young people in Iran, who are either already the majority or are very close to being the majority - the under-25 group.
From vanityfair.com: "IRAN'S WAITING GAME Completing his travels through the so-called Axis of Evil, Christopher Hitchens finds that Iran's ruling mullahs have failed to crush its spirit, or its hope that America will prove to be a friend."

2. America COULD be a friend to the reformers in Iran |
|
IF Felonious George would just shut up and stop giving the hard-liners so much unintentional (or IS it unintentional?) help.

7. oh I SO agree with you |

The kids there are desperate for legitimate representation. But I suspect that they would fight tooth and nail to keep the people's will from being hijacked by the Great Satan....
Any incursion (beyond the drones that are already zipping around) would be catastrophic.

11. The way America's been acting lately |

I can't blame them for distrusting <us>. There is no doubt that this administration and its perverted pundit minions are anti-islam...considering even moderate islam to be "an evil religion" or some such nonsense.
The Ba'hai are islamic and only a lunatic would call THEM evil.

3. It is an axiom with me to expect apologists of Hitchens' stripe when |
|
enough money and booze is waved at them. George Galloway is correct about him.He is an alcoholic popinjay and Alex Cockburn, his old friend ,is even more devastating.

I'm not a Hitchens fan - except for his brilliant expose of Mother Teresa, who always made me suspicious - but this piece really surprised me.
I'd urge you to read it.

they have deals with Iran, and they hold a lot of our debt. We have a trade imbalance with them and I think they could stop trading with us at the blink of a hat. The U.S. is a big market, but, they have the world to trade with, and they are now a major player thanks to our greedy capitalists. I don't think it would hurt them too much to bring things up short, fire a warning across our bow, and let the monkeyboy* know who holds the real power in the world today.
edit: goddamn keyboard doesn't capitolize somethimes.
