It's happening. Oil breaking the $60/barrel threshold, At record high.
"Light sweet crude for July delivery climbed $1.03 to $59.50 a barrel in afternoon trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange, an intraday record since the Nymex started trading oil futures in 1983."

1. This morning, I told hubby to fill up
first thing as he was heading off for work.

He rolled his eyes at me.

4. I'm used to putting $20 worth of gas in my pickup truck
every 6 months or so. I think the $20 worth I put into it on June 1 will last me only 4 months, at the most.

My other car is an electric moped, and I'm doing the cardiac rehab thing and trying to get back to where I can use a real bicycle.

3. It used to be that the Saudis would keep the price of oil in check out of
fear that the West would seek alternative sources of energy if prices got out of control. Now that oil companies have enough money and power to keep us hooked on oil and we've got two oilmen in the WH, they can do whatever they want with prices.

Remind your repub friends of this every time they spend $60 to fill up their SUV.

5. Last time energy went ballistic and Congress wouldn't do anything. . .
Jim Jeffords tilted the Senate balance in our favor and -- hey, presto! -- the price of energy dropped. I'm more convinced than ever that it went up so fast in 2001 and dropped so quickly because the energy whores felt they could do what they pleased with a Republican congress -- then switched quicker than Jeffords when the threat of investigations loomed large. . .

6. Before it hit $30, I made a bet against a guy who said it wouldn't. I won.

If it hits $60, should I collect from him again?
