Is the new media frenzy about nabbing Osama Bush's Ace in the Hole?
I just realized it as I saw yet another article about them catching Osama soon... Anyone else think that this is either being flaunted to combat the DSM media attention and Bush's slipping numbers? OR is he stowed away somewhere as Saddam was for just such a media crisis that Bush is facing now?

2. Nah, they have no idea where OBL is.
This is just a distraction, they want to remind us of who the real enemy is.

5. My first thought also.
Capturing the #3 man didnt help, lets pull old #1 out and dust him off. Ratchet up the fear factor a little bit.

I wouldnt be surprized to see the terror level go up to orange.

4. I'm not sure if he's stowed away or they just knew where he was
all along. Either way, their timing is perfect again, as usual.

7. Potential other theory:
I've long thought that, should it look like they'll be loosing power, they'd quickly pull the plug on the "War and Terror" so that Democrats won't have access to the war powers they've enjoyed.

Nabbing OBL would be step one.

Maybe they know the jig is up?

15. Imagine if Dems had use of the Patriot Act?
They might actually find out who outed Valerie Plame?

Might actually investigate pre-911 and pre-Iraq War issues.

Might find out just what Guckert was doing in the WH Press Corp, or in the White House itself.

Might actually investigate the Capital Hill anthrax attack.

These are all things the White House has done it's best to stall/impede/obstruct.

When they know they'll be loosing power, I predict the War on Terror will be declared "won" pronto, and the Patriot Act will quickly become history.

IMO.

9. I really can't see why capturing OBL would do anything...this was
supposed to be done years ago...but all these dumb people out there they will think this is the end of terrorism..

10. Not only that, ChimpCo marginalized OBL
After the initial burst of "smoke him out" blather, the standard answer for the past 4 years has been "Not important to the War on Terra."

16. Yep, he's pretty much a figurehead now...
especially since BushCo has done such a great job of recruiting terrorists around the world...

Besides, the so-called war on terror is purposely amibiguous...BushCo wants a never-ending war on terror. See the movie "Canadian Bacon" for a satire of the real thing. In fact, maybe that's why they showed that movie on cable this weekend.

12. OBL
is as safe as a babe in a cradle. If Bush were going to nab him he would have done it before the election.

No, I suspect the arrangements are that we leave him alone--after all, he is family.

These guys have not quite enough imagination. This worked the first time and the second time and the eighth time but after a while people do start to wonder

13. One has to ask
how many whoppers one can tell before everyone stops believing them? The level is much higher now than I ever thought possible. How many will now believe they just were so successful at this time? I know, way WAY too many.

You almost have to laugh at the level of stupidity this will show.

20. Okay.. that is SCARY! Iran or Syria perhaps.
Scares me that our govt is actually using the excuse of respecting soverign governments as an excuse not to nab someone like OBL. That seems way weak to me.
