1. Wow... too many holes.
Let's start with this one;

"The majority of Americans still support the President and the policies his administration has pursued."

Which is why his approval rating is 42% and support for his 'policy' is 37%.

Oh there's so much more... I'll add in a minute.

4. Per news reports this weekend
Iraq is in chaos. Per white house spokesman this weekend, if we leave, Iraq will be in Chaos. I'm sure it sings very well out of a baptist pulpit.

9. civil war?
I have heard that one of the reasons "we're" not getting out of Iraq is because there will be a civil war there. What's so wrong with that? We did it.

12. actually, the reason we're not going to leave is
that we cannot afford to allow Iraqis to control the oil market without our guidance.

The most pressing reason we went was to maintain US reserve currency status there. The secondary is having our foot in the door as per PNAC agenda.

I'll be happy to explain it all to you sometime if you aren't already familiar with this administrations agenda.

6. They need to change their name to
"Overstated Bullshit R Us"

There are so many valid criticisms they could make of the Democrats in Congress that it's bizarre that they would continue to shriek "treason" at a party that essentially does nothing but rubberstamp all the stuff their own party wants.

10. next;
"the old Democrat/MSM cabal have managed to turn public opinion against the most reasonable revision of the Social Security system-private accounts-by their constant lies and fear mongering"

Which is why;

"Does Social Security Really Face an $11 Trillion Deficit?
Bush and Cheney say yes. But actuaries say the figure is "likely to mislead" the public on the system's true financial state."
http://www.factcheck.org/article302.html

And the freeper says;"...aided by the highly partisan AARP which misses no opportunity to frighten the elderly in this nation by implying that President Bush’s plan would take away their Social Security checks"

So he obviously never heard this;

"President Bush announced April 28 that he is embracing a proposal to address Social Security's financial shortfall by slowing the growth of future benefits for higher-income and middle-income workers, but not for lower-income workers."

http://www.factcheck.org/article323.html

Which is to say that, Yes - Bush intends for his plan to cut benefits to retirees, not all retirees, just the ones that make too much money.
Gee, I wonder how they'll figure out who those people are.
(For the record- I agree with the idea. But don't call the AARP liars if they are not.

More later.

11. they're eating their young again
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 02:27 PM by sui generis
they wouldn't know what a liberal was if it smacked them between the eyes.

Music programs at your local school are not "liberal". In freeperland anything but a bible class is liberal. I actually had a "civics" course in both junior and high school and social studies that talked about what was expected of wholesome Americans: to take care of our environment and neighbors and to give a damn about politics and to be accepting of people's differences whether we liked them or not.

That's not liberal. That's how people live and get along.

When idiots like that asshat say "liberal" education, I suspect it's code for how dare you teach our kids that it's okay for gay people to be gay, or that Mendelian genetics are a direct observable proof of evolution that requires no faith, or that the Vietnam and Iraq war were wrong, and that America is not and never will be a "christian" nation, unless you want sometime in the future for America to be a nation of Islam or a nation of Wicca or feng shui or whatever happens to float everyone's boat a century or two from now.

If I could make a wish on their behalf it would be for them to go away and live in a perfect world full of people who think and act exactly like they do, somewhere far, far away from here. It's probably more than they deserve as far as cruel and unusual, but fitting, doncha think?

17. you're on to me!
yup.

They would be bored to death living in a world where not only did Janet Jackson never flash a nipple, but actually didn't even have nipples.

The best thing is, if there were no gays/homeless/welfare queens/drag queens/nipple metallurgy/iraqi insurgents/environmentalists/minorities of any kind/etc. for them to hate and get excited about, what on earth would they possibly talk about?

They couldn't have sex before marriage, once married would be stuck forever, could only fuck to procreate, and wouldn't need to bother to vote since everyone would be "consaaaarvative" and republican with playdough pumper #9 hair. The average work week would be about 12 hours a day seven days a week for pennies, because there would be no "intrusive government" setting standards for labor or pay, and every state could act entirely like its own country without regard to any central government or "activist" judge to interpret law or constitutionality, and nobody would ever die because there would be entire continents full of shoulda-been-deads with feeding tubes shoved up their asses.

I won't even go on about what the quality of their breathing air or drinking water would be, much less whethere there would even be such a thing as a national park for them to visit, and the cheerleaders on their ESPN games would all be wearing Victorian gear.

Hell. You're right. That's where they want to be, only they just don't realize it yet.

16. As long as we fight with them and they fight with us, we will never
get done in this country what needs to be done. The division is Rove's secret weapon. As long as he keeps the people divided, we cannot come together and overpower this administration.

I have never seen both parties so angry and mad at each except for at election time. Why is there so much hate and anger?

27. Why? - you already answered that question...
So long as the labels "intellectual elite", "Liberal Elite", "left-wing media", and other similar denigrations are meted out by Rush Limbaughs and Anne Coulters, self-proclaimed 'conservatives' can superficially dismiss any argument from the left as "Hateful rhetoric".

You see, there is a reason why people who are less educated tend to be more likely to vote for Bush... because he's not an 'intellectual'. (no kidding)
The under-educated have a great distrust of those that "Is smarter than them" because they feel that all that education makes people arrogant. And to some degree they may be right. But there is no question that the under-educated recognize that knowledge is power... the power to communicate, craft abstract concepts, secure an elevated lifestyle... basically the ability to move and operate in venues that a less educated person could not.

For instance;
I was out playing pool with some friends of mine who I have known for a very long time. My one friend knows I am a knowledge hound, but never did it seem like that big of a difference between us until that night. A conscript of the Unification Church came in to sell a bunch of junk jewelry to the patrons there. When she approached us, I asked her about Sun Myung Moon and told her, in what little Mandarin I know (yes-Moon is Korean) that I thought Moon was crazy and I would not support his cause.
When I turned around, my friend was looking at me as though I just grew an extra head. They were amazed that I knew who Moon was, what he stood for, and that I could speak a little Mandarin. From the way he looked at and spoke to me right afterwards, I could tell that even my good friend felt 'separated' from me at that moment... as though I were 'different' from him.

If that could happen to my friend and I, even if just for a moment, imagine how easy it is to harness the ignorance of so many people and turn it against those who seem so much different - intellectuals. The distrust of intellectuals by those without as much education, and the disdain for the uneducated by academics is the perfect concoction to set everyone against each-other. And this administration has mastered this.

Now, I know I'm over-simplifying this, but it would take a very long time to get into more specifics.

The point is simple - the less educated will not listen to the highly educated for fear of being 'manipulated', the highly educated revile the less educated for their literal and willful ignorance.

Normally this wouldn't work on such a massive national scale unless there was a really neat devisive issue like say- and illegal invasion.

So now we have millions of educated and observant people trying to 'convince' millions of stubborn adherents of the nature of this administration's actions. You can see the futility, the harder the intellectuals work to convince people of what's happening, the more resistant those people become. They are convinced that these 'intellectual elites' are just trying to manipulate them into thinking their way because those intellectuals "think they're better than us, but we'll show them just what we think of all their 'studies' and 'research' and 'intelligence' by not listening."

And bingo! You have a wall of ignorance protecting the administration from losing all possible support.

It's kind of like pointing at the monster creeping up behind someone who doesn't like you and shouting, "Look, Look! There's a monster behind you!" and they say, "I know you don't like me - I'm not falling for that one."

Then you watch as the monster eats him- quickly so he barely notices, and then comes for you. Sad when together, you may have been able to fight it off.

I know you understand this, and I would love to hear your insights.
