Bush: "I understand we have kids in harm's way"
"I think about Iraq every day. Every single day, because I understand we have kids in harm's way," the president said at a White House news conference. "We will complete the mission and the world will be better off for it."

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050620/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_11

===

Numero uno: Do you notice he constantly trots out this petulant "I understand!" line because he knows that most thinking people truly don't believe he understands a damn thing?

Numero two-o: "We have KIDS in harm's way." Has he deluded himself that our servicepeople are all 18-year old volunteers? Does he know how many 45 year old fathers haven't seen their kids in 18 months because DAD is in the National Guard and keeps getting sent back to this hellhole? Has he read about the 54 year old grandmother who was sent to Iraq?

27. Hey kliljdahl, where do you get your charcoal?
It's hard to find here in eastern MT. Bought up all I could find last year and they haven't restocked this year. Nearly all here, as most anywhere else, like the petrochemical-laden briquets which they start by dowsing with more petroleum distillate. Can you believe we ever did that for years, for gods sake. That charcoal burns so hot, requiring more skill in BBQing (which I am working on) is something I like.

38. Just buy Kingsford, start in a chimney & put on wood
Only use charcoal to get the wood going usually. I buy it at Lowes, they have it year round & it's cheaper. Everywhere else it's "seasonal." If I'm grilling I go with the Kingsford. I haven't bought starter fluid in years. Get a chimney & use it. Just as fast as lighter fluid & no nasty taste.

36. His use of the term "kids in harms way" pisses me off. There are
men and women, husbands, wives, parents, children, brothers, sisters, etc in harms way. They are not kids. The people of Iraq have "kids" in harms way - mangled, mutilated, killed.

I know what * means when he refers to them as kids, and I resent it! I think if * sends men and women to shoot and be shot at, then he should not call them kids. Only their parents have that right - his kids are safe at home.

I do not now have anyone in the military. For those of you who do, damn I want them all to come home safely to you.

When is the last time he even visited "His" troops in the field,in the hospital wards,or in the funeral homes? My son has spent 2 Christmases in Iraq.He spends his days between trying to Jerry-rig tanks so they don't become death chambers, and standing guard over caravans-some are civilian contractors(Halliburton)-other soldiers are having to buy their own flak jackets."support our troops" is more than a magnet slogan....

The obligatory once? The conscience-pricking twice? Three times?

Does it keep you from sleeping? Does it dull your appetite? From what I've seen, it doesn't keep you from yukking it up on your road shows. How does it affect you, george? Do you ever break down and cry like we do as we watch the body count going higher and higher?

HOW MANY TIMES A DAY, george?? HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU THINK OF THE "KIDS" YOU SENT TO DIE AND BE MAIMED?

26. Worthless, murdering loser who even lies about thinking about Iraq
He doesn't think about it all, he thinks it was over once we finished turning Iraq into a bloody hash of child-killing, looting of their cultural heritage, poor sanitation, leveling of whole cities, indiscriminate, triggerhhappy killing of civilians and journalists and of corruption. He even lies about how much attention he pays to his garden of disaster

BTW, especially interesting posters here. The weightlifter and the man who says wood charcoal is the only way to grill (he's right about that: to heck with chemical-laden briquets you soak with more chemical to get started. I have bought up all the wood charcoal I could find around here last year, I was right they haven't restocked it. Thanks for being here.

every single day. he thought he would be the God of War after his illegal invasion. Turns out he is the god of a bullshit quagmire he can't extricate himself from. The polls (which he looks at daily) show even his base is cracking over Eyeraq! He is sounding pretty fucking petulant and desperate. suck it up dipshit** and for once in your godforsaken life admit you fucked up and bring "your kids" home.

32. NO you do not understand!
There is no way you can possibly even understand.

I think about Iraq everyday. There is not a day / hour that goes by that I'm not thinking about buddies I have still in service who are caught up in this bullshit that YOU started. Let alone their families who have to be separated from loved ones. Sons and daughters who had their mommies and daddies taken from them to be deployed to this fucking mess of yours.

It is sick how the so called Commander in Chief gets away with crap like this. A man who could not even show up for freaking AIR NATIONAL GUARD DUTY!! What the fuck can he possibly understand about sacrifice.

I know for a fact that my girlfriend went through hell while I was in, was almost a joke at the times that I would get back just to be deployed again a few weeks later. Yet she stuck by me longer than I thought she would. There was more understanding in her than freaking Chimp boy here could ever comprehend.

If he truly understood what's going on, he would have the hard times sitting down enjoying simple things like freaking dining out like I do.

Simple things that you take for granted here that soldiers over there don't enjoy. But no, he's going to big dinners, throwing HUGE balls for his inauguration and carrying on with that #$@^@$#^$@ SMIRK on his face!!

40. It doesn't matter how old they are, they're somebody's kids,
and fathers and mothers, sisters, brothers, friends. What insults me is he has to make a point of telling us he thinks "about Iraq everyday." He better be thinking about it, for if there is a Judgement Day, (which I don't think there will be one, but for people like him, I really wish there would be), he's going to have to remember the answers to the "test," if he wants to try and pass those pearly gates. And if there is a Judgement Day, I hope he's ahead of me in line, so I can see his face as he's on the way down. He'll be clutching this sign, handed to him by St. Peter himself, "We only send people to hell as a last resort. We always try diplomacy first. Signed -the Administration."
