What's the deal with these 'Saddam Guards' ???
These guys look like a couple of California surf boys who just happened to be guards of Saddam. They're slick in a creepy way. I don't get it.

4. They humanized him
Talking about his liking of Raisen Bran, doing his own laundry, getting cigars and all that makes him more human.

This just seemed like a stupid move on the part of the Pentagon.

12. Or trivialize him.
Morphing him into a branded consumer. I wonder if PepsiCo didn't orchestrate this? Saddam in his underway deciding which he likes better - Freetos or Dorritos.

13. Not Leadership Fault/ Not That Bad.
When I first saw the interview this morning on the Today Show I thought it was the take away from the problems that are going on at Abu Garib and Guantomo Bay. I noticed that one of the guards pointed out that they were told to treat Saddam with respect. I think this was to try to imply that the leadership did not approve of the things that went bad in these places. I think this might be more in the line of the spin that things are not really that bad at these places.

15. Maybe the Pentagon is getting ready to cut a deal with Saddam.
Since things aren't going so well with Cheney's "flowers & candy" scenario, and too much of the truth is coming out about Shrub's mega blunder in Iraq. The U.S. puts Saddam back in his Government, so Saddam can crush the religious radicals and the terrorists that have poured into Iraq and the ones the U.S. has created with being there.

Now, how is this done? Well, the Pentagon has to make 'Uncle Saddam' seem more human and polite. Saddam could be less evil, like during the Reagan years. Saddam helps Shrub out of the jam Shrub has gotten himself into, and Shrub allows Saddam to be President of Iraq again, Saddam puts an iron fist on Iraq again, Shrub still keeps the U.S. military bases there, and Shrub still gets his exclusive oil exports from Iraq. Shrub and Saddam could even go back to the Reagan years and fight Iran again, only this time the U.S. and Iraq would fight Iran together. After what has happened so far, would it surprise you?
