'Menstruating' boy stuns doctors
In an extremely unusual case, a Kolkata doctor is treating a teenage boy who has been showing symptoms of menstruation.

The 15-year-old 'effeminate' boy's bleeding has been occurring in the second week of every month and lasts three days. During the period he experiences stomach aches, cramps, nausea and mood swings.

"We examined the boy. Though he has male organs, his behaviour and traits are like a woman," said physician Sudip Mondal.

"If tests of blood samples prove the presence of ovum, this would be a very rare medical case," he added.

It sounds like he can **** himself. Now, is that a good or bad thing?

2. Does he live near a chemical plant?
There was a story about a six-legged, duel penis dog in the news recently, weird shit is afoot.

12. "Pretty scary shit"
I would love to hear about what doesn't hit the news.

I hope that the owners of the dog with two penises don't have a housebreaking problem.

I find that a tad insulting.

13. You think it's a picnic for us???
We know you're in pain, and we can never know what it feels like, but let's face it. Your body functions are not our fault, and taking it out on us (as many married men, boyfriends, sons, brothers can attest) is disgusting bullying, no matter what your gender is. Most of us have empathy when it comes, but this male bashing really tests that empathy.

I am sorry I was born only needing 1/2 of a drug store shelf to take care of my body, and you need the rest of the store. Try having half of your genital's nerves and skin severed off as a non-consenting baby because "it looks pretty".

4. Sounds like he is intersex
Which means having some characteristics of both genders. It's not as uncommon as you might think.

6. Perhaps they should send him to one of those e-vangelical
"stop being gay" camps, get him all fixed up and manly like a man ought to be. That should do the trick. Because, as we all know from those American Family Associations, it's all a matter of choice.

8. "Symptoms"?
I assume that if this boy was actually *bleeding* they would tell us. Hermaphrodism, while rare, does happen.

11. Have they checked to see if he has ovaries as well as testes?

I remember learning about such cases when I was in college. If he does, he'll probably opt for an elective oophorectomy ASAP!

A side note: girls can have Turner Syndrome, caused by having only one X chromosome. Turner girls are shorter than usual and don't have periods.

Nowdays these XO girls are given human growth hormone so they're not TOO short and can have menstruation induced hormonally, too. But a student who confided that she had Turner Syndrome said "I asked the doctor, 'Why would I WANT periods?' "
Not a bad question for a young girl!

18. But question from me
If that girl didn't get periods would that mean anything? Would that change anything of her body? Like having kids and things like that.

If he has male sex organs, and I assume no vagina...where is he bleeding from?? The word,"bleeding" was not in quotes in the article.

22. Consider this...... consider the effects of du.... of the
estrogenic chemicals that our way of life has placed in all parts of the world... consider where we are headed, with or without terrorism, smartbombs, conflict etc.

What long-term effects can radiation have?
The effect of the radiation may not be to kill the cell, but to alter its DNA code in a way that leaves the cell alive but with an error in the DNA blueprint. The effect of this mutation will depend on the nature of the error and when it is read. Since this is a random process, such effects are now called stochastic.<100> Two important stochastic effects of radiation are cancer, which results from mutations in nongerm cells (termed somatic cells), and heritable changes, which result from mutations in germ cells (eggs and sperm).
