ABC’s “The Scholar” pits ten exceptionally bright students against each other for a single full college scholarship. Every contestant has a 4.0 GPA and scored at least 1400 on their SATs. They’re gifted and dedicated students who all clearly deserve to go to the college of their choice. And they’ll be pitted against each other like dogs on national television."

I hadn't realized that ABC wasn't actually ponying up the cash for the scholarship!

Wouldn't it send a much more positive message if the host said, "we can't decide on which person should get it -- and the point is, we shouldn't have to decide. By refusing to send these people on to higher education, we're only depriving our country of their abilities. So we're cancelling our fall slate of reality shows, to send these kids to school."
