Another Heartening Encounter. |
|
As many of you know, I live in the reddest part of a blue state. Red, red, red. I also live in a very economically stricken town. Bit that does not deter the majority of them: they would vote for a ham sammich if it was a repuke.
I went to the little food store/butcher today. The owner's wife, a cancer survivor and a wonderful woman, was manning the butcher desk.
Somehow, she led me into a discussion that led to The Iraq War. My blood ran cold. Folks, these people are republicans, through and through.
She is foursquare against the war. She sees so little future for the kids and the country. She hates the chimp.
Every day, the repukes are eroding. Every day, a little sanity returns. One essentially good person at a time.

3. Great, but will she still vote for them? |
|
I just do not have much hope for people who are taken in by such obvious propaganda and lies.

That's how it'll happen. They're losing their support. Hopefully by 2006 the republican party won't be in much power so we can help get our country back on track and clean up everything.

|
the election, thank god, so he doesn't have to feel guilty about it all.

7. I'll believe it's the tide turning when |

the guy I work with changes his way of thinking. He knows how I feel (and at least 3-4 other people in our immediate group) and he is very loud and blatent about his feelings. He knows he's being an ass and he wants to be one. One of the dems eggs him on daily.

8. the best aspect of these encounters is . . . |
|
that each of these people talk to others in their families and communities . . . and while those folks likely won't listen to us "libruls," they WILL listen to family members and neighbors who they know and trust . . . and that's how the sea change will take place . . . people talking to other people, one on one . . .
