In my mailbox I found
THIS waiting for me. It was a forward from my wife. I'm actually curious what everyone else thinks of it. After I have some responses, I'll tell you all what I think of it myself.

Try driving around as a Gringo in Mexico with no liability
insurance..... and have an accident....

Enter MEXICO illegally.
Never mind immigration quotas, visas, international law, or any of that nonsense.

Once there, demand that the local government provide free medical care
for you and your entire family.

Demand bilingual nurses and doctors.

Demand free bilingual local government forms, bulletins, etc.

Procreate abundantly.

Deflect any criticism of this allegedly irresponsible reproductive
behavior with, "It is a cultural United States thing. You would not understand, pal."

Keep your American identity strong. Fly Old Glory from your rooftop,
or proudly display it in your front window or on your car bumper.

Speak only English at home and in public and insist that your children
do likewise.

Demand classes on American culture in the Mexican school system.

Demand to be eligible for Mexican retirement funds that you never
contributed to.

Demand a local Mexican driver license.

This will afford other legal rights and will go far to legitimize your
unauthorized,illegal, presence in Mexico.

Insist that local Mexican law enforcement teach English to all its
officers.

Good luck!

Because it will never happen.

It will not happen in Mexico or any other country in the world...
except right here in the United States... Land of the naive!

If you agree, pass it on.

If you don't, go ahead and try the above in Mexico or Iraq (or France)

1. Ugh! My best friend sent me this and I was outraged.
This is one of the most racist, hateful pieces of shit I have ever read. I could go through it point by point but that would give too much energy to something that should be given no attention. The people who agree with this will never listen to reason anyway.

2. "Or France"
Ask the person who sent that-better yet-hit "reply All" and ask them if they'd like mayonaise with their "Freedom Fries"...

"Uh, Pal, Frenchy-bashing is-how do I break this to ya?-SO 2002..."

Their idea of going someplace exotic must be the Yoo-Pee...And when they're there, they speak very loudly and slowly.

3. Does the US have a single-payer system now?
Once there, demand that the local government provide free medical care for you and your entire family.

The US has a single payer healthcare system now? Since when does the right wing care about anyone who is sick? (Unless they are also brain-dead and blind.)

Procreate abundantly.

Catholics and Mormons procreate abundantly in the United States. Should illegal immigrants not have sex?

6. I think this is pretty racist.
Mexicans don't come here and demand things when they are illegal. They work, make money, and bring it home. About that retirement fund- many illegals do possess SS cards. Sure, they might not be issued to them, but they are hired with SS cards. And with many of them, as far as their company knows (as long as they have an SS card) they are legal. So they DO pay into SS. They pay into SS and don't collect a penny. This was explained to my mom, who works for a company that had hired illegals (which was taken care of once it was figured out.)... they all had SS cards that were for people born the same year as them. I don't know the specifics, but they all had SS cards, and all paid into the system. They made money, saved it, and brought it home. I don't necessarily agree with it. But I don't think these people should be trashed either.

We have many foreign languages taught in schools and required by some professions, because we have such a diversity in America. There is nothing wrong with that. Anyone who doesn't like it, well, they don't have to learn the languages.

There's nothing wrong with being proud of your nationality. If it ever becomes illegal to fly a flag of a different nation, then that will mean something is seriously wrong with our country. Although there is a lot left to say about this, whatever. This is racist and mean. Anyone who doesn't like diversity, obviously doesn't like America that much. Because that is what America is all about. Freedom to be who you are, regardless of race, creed, gender, etc.

7. Racism via email, that's what it is.
But you know there is a large number of Americans (and growing) that are really starting to resent everything available in spanish. I hear it all the time from everyone. I usually just sit quietly and listen because I can never think of anything to say except that it doesn't bother me as much. This one guy (a republican) was complaining that our park and ride buses are announcing street names and bus names via bus speaker not only in english but also spansih and it really ticks him off. An Asian friend (liberal) was agreeing with him and saying how they don't do it for other foreign speaking Americans. I'm wondering what these people will do once they've tolerated enough. It worries me.

9. I don't see why it's such a problem.
I may be wrong, but I bet there are a lot more Spanish speaking Americans than there are French, Japanese, Mandarin, German, etc etc. If the amount of people speaking those languages were to increase, I imagine we'd be seeing the same thing going on with those languages as well. Like in Canada. It's mainly French and English up there, so those are the two used by speakers, on signs, what have you.

*sigh*

8. Try this...
Try spending 12 hours a day or more picking lettuce or strawberries for 10% of the minimum wage.

Try to do that while supporting a family of 5, which has grown ever larger because of inadequate health and reproductive services.

Try educating those children in a poorly funded school in which they speak a different language than everyone else making them an outsider, not only because they are different, but because they are poor. They do not already speak the language because they were born to parents who never recieved a formal education in their country and hence have limited ability to learn the language, especially with the 12 hr work day.

Try fleeing across a desolate landscape where the chances of being captured or worse are rather high. How would you feel if you ran into a bunch of American middle-class (filthy rich by my standars) rednecks who call themselves the 'Minutemen' as if they are fighting for freedom itself.

I could go on and on, but we all agree here. These people are IDIOTS!!!

11. from the Mexican Constitution:

Article 11. Everyone has the right to enter and leave the Republic, to travel through its territory and to change his residence without necessity of a letter of security, passport, safe-conduct or any other similar requirement.

13. What ticks me off is
That they're upset at immigrants trying to scrape by and having all them brown-skinned babies, but they're equally pissed off at any kind of success in the Hispanic community because Heaven forbid that a Mexican super-mercadito open up in the neighborhood because they're then imposing their culture on us and getting uppity like they belong here and all.

14. Plenty of Americans did enter Mexico illegally
They flew the American flag, demanded special treatment, evaded or worked around the laws and expected to be catered to in the English language. They eventually set themselves up as the Republic of Texas, got a bunch of morans killed at the Alamo and ignited the Mexican War which resulted in a large chunk of Mexico passing into American hands.

Pots and kettles.

15. The lies refuted;
Try driving around as a Gringo in Mexico with no liability
insurance..... and have an accident....

Enter MEXICO illegally.
Never mind immigration quotas, visas, international law, or any of that nonsense.

Actually, in California it IS illegal to drive with no insurance.... but in Mexico, you just need basic liability.

Once there, demand that the local government provide free medical care
for you and your entire family.

No one in the USA gets free health care... yet in Mexico, health care is cheap, of excellent quality and VERY affordable in nice, clean clinics for a few pesos... Most medical procedures including dentistry are 1/10th the price of the US, employing the same techniques too! And all the docs and nurses I've ever met in MX speak excellent english. And by the way, Mexico pays for its people to go to college for free, even MEDICAL SCHOOL.

Demand bilingual nurses and doctors. I've always had english speaking doctors and nurses in Mexicp.

Demand free bilingual local government forms, bulletins, etc.
All documents I've ever encountered in Mexico were bi-lingual...

Procreate abundantly. I thought abortion and birth control was a bad thing for republicans?

Deflect any criticism of this allegedly irresponsible reproductive
behavior with, "It is a cultural United States thing. You would not understand, pal." I thought abortion and birth control was a bad thing for republicans?

Keep your American identity strong. Fly Old Glory from your rooftop,

Demand to be eligible for Mexican retirement funds that you never
contributed to. Mexicans have paid BILLIONS into SS that are held in frozen accounts.

Demand a local Mexican driver license. what makes you think getting a driver's license in mexico is a problem?

This will afford other legal rights and will go far to legitimize your unauthorized, illegal, presence in Mexico.

Insist that local Mexican law enforcement teach English to all its
officers. all the police and federales I've ever met in Mexico speak fluent english

Good luck!

16. I found it disturbing
and rather than reply to my wife with exactly what I thought of it (I think she agrees with it to some extent--which bothers me more than a little) I posted it here to get some feedback from people I knew I'd agree with, more or less.

She and I had a little discussion about this just now and she explained a little of why she feels this way--it offends her that laws are on the books forcing Americans to learn other languages to communicate with people who come here from elsewhere. She reminded me of when she was in a car accident with an Asian family and had trouble getting insurance information because they couldn't speak English. I can see where she's coming from (it's a talent of mine to do so) but I don't really agree with it.

My wife lived in Germany for six years...across the border from The Netherlands. She was actually more comfortable in Europe than she's ever been in America, which is a strange irony. Her political philosophies are a mix of both socialism and libertarianism, which is a REALLY weird mix.

She works in a call center, and has to deal with a lot of incoming calls from people who don't speak English well, and it's sometimes quite frustrating.

To me, America is and always has been a melting pot. It behooves the service industries to provide information in the language of their users--be it English or other--for no other reason than it makes for good customer relations. I think it's just good business.

My only problem is when I deal with a corporate or government service person whose command of the English language is less than ideal. I REALLY don't like asking someone to repeat themselves three or four times before I get the gist of what they are saying. It makes me feel like an asshole.

17. OK, I decided to come back and reply to this thread instead of....
my first response I provided. I am originally from Canada and have traveled quite a bit.

My first thought, when I received the same email in my box, was to say what a racist society we live in. I told my husband that if they were really demanding all of those things they would probably not even be here and go to Canada instead. I then went on to say that I am surprised the Us government has not set up a shuttle service, for Mexicans, so they can go straight to the Canadian border.

Maybe I am blind and deaf but I have never heard any of this demanded. I would think there would be an uproar if it was. I think what has happened, in our society, is that there has been such an influx of Mexicans that our society has adapted to the numbers. More and more people are learning to speak Spanish to accommodate the population. Nothing is demanded.

As for as procreating abundantly, do 'they' think that Mexicans are doing it to bring down our system? I do not get the point of it. Are they suggesting we should have limits on the number of children families can have? Are they saying abortion should be legal? What exactly is wrong with having a big family? I think it is great they love children so much that they have big families. They appreciate children.

I could go on and on about this but I will spare you. What it comes down to is that it is racist pure and simple.
