Hey, Republicans: We Are Anti-Fundamentalist, Not Anti-Christian
So, get over this oh so clever media trick of trying to co-opt the term "Christian."

You have no patent on Christianity.

There are tens of millions of Christian Democrats.

Your ranks, however, are filled with FUNDAMENTALIST Christians, wild eyed cultist bigots, and when we object to their hate and bigotry, we are not being anti-Christian, we are objecting to the chronic outpouring of FUNDAMENTALIST BIGOTRY to which your party subjects the nation.

Got it?

Objecting to the hate and the venom from the fundamentalists hardly makes one anti-Christian.

Some might argue that standing up to your hate is actually, uh, quite the CHRISTIAN thing to do.

1. LIke they'd know the "Christian" thing to do!
I have some fundies in the family. They are the absolute opposite of Christian... which I guess, technically makes them athiest...:P

Fundies aren't any religion... they are little terrorists, running around, destroying people's lives.

Not Democrat, Not Republican. CHRISTIAN.

Mission Statement
Sojourners, http://www.sojo.net is a Christian ministry whose mission is to proclaim and practice the biblical call to integrate spiritual renewal and social justice.

In response to this call, we offer a vision for faith in public life by: publishing Sojourners magazine, SojoMail and other resources that address issues of faith, politics, and culture from a biblical perspective; preaching, teaching, organizing, and public witness;
nurturing community by bringing together people from the various traditions and streams of the church; hosting an annual program of voluntary service for education, ministry, and discipleship.

In our lives and in our work, we seek to be guided by the biblical principles of justice, mercy, and humility.

3. I concur
My parents are Jehovahs Witnesses, and the JWs wore the purple triangles in WWII that were put in concentration camps along with gays and jews, etc... they consider themselves Christian, and NO I dont like what they preach, but, DAMMIT, its still supposed to be a free country here to believe as you want!!!

At least the JWs stay the hell OUT of politics and nationalism. Fundies put them in the camps, and Fundies are more than happy to do it again since they dont salute the flag, vote, or go to ANY war.

So in my eyes, how can I hate my own parents for believing what they want, when, in Hitler's day, we would have shared the same damned room in a camp anyway, since I am a liberal.

I will always fight for their rights to their beliefs, or anyone elses...SO LONG as its kept out of our government.

Just a reminder that fundamentalists persecuted "christians' before, and will do it again..because it had better be the right 'brand' of Christianity.

Religions...man what a mess....
