Are we being Assimilated? Is Resistance Futile? |
|
to use the star trek borg analogy. i've asked this many times, is it really even at all possible to stop the maniacs in their quest to destroy the world?
i hear so many people in here say it in so many words. they're too powerful. they are too ensconced, too rooted, too entrenched to remove in any practical way. no point even trying, it's useless, pointless to even consider.
i consider this a VERY defeatest attitude, even though i feel it too, the notion that there's simply nothing at all we can do to change it, so we might as well sit back and enjoy it, like rape.
it seems we are defeated by our own hand before we even put up a fight.

majority of Americans. They have accepted a lot of the fictional context of the BushCo presidency. Yes, maybe some are waking up NOW... but for years the assimilation was pretty darn complete. I'm shocked that more than 5% ever bought any of the BushCo BS (including voting for that "compassionate, competent, down-home Texas good-ol' boy" even once!).

2. No, it's never futile. But the current state of the Democratic Party |
|
doesn't offer me much encouragement that it offers a very effective vehicle for opposition.

I, however, remain optimistic.
