After receiving several separate warnings from the CIA and FBI that bin Laden was "determined to attack the US, possibly involving airplanes", Pres Gore quietly stepped up US security and was able to capture almost 30 terrorists who were planning to highjack Private Airliners and fly them into the WTC, the Pentagon, and the White House.

In other news, after threats of military retribution Saddam Hussein allowed UN inspectors back into Iraq, who were able to determine that Saddam is fully contained and poses no threat to the US or his neighbors.
