Nashville Christians PROTEST against Baptists! |
|
The Southern Baptist Convention started their annual convention meeting Monday, and were met by a local Christian group calling themselves Faithful Witness.
The protest group was made up of religious leaders and followers from across the Nashville area who said they wanted everyone to know they did not agree with the SBC Conservative views on homosexuality, single parenting, etc.
One protestor interviewed said he was "tired of the HATE" coming from the SBC.
Sorry, no link. This was reported on the local TV news channel WTVF, nothing on their website.
I'm not a Christian myself, but I know Jesus WAS a Liberal! And Liberal Christians are finally speaking up!

1. I've had it with the Baptists... |
|
...went to church as a kid, and remember just being scared all the time of fire and brimstone. It's about time the real Christians stood up to these hatemongers (if I may call them that).

4. I was raised as a Southern Baptst. That's why I'm a non-Christian |
|
now. When I was a teenager, I even planned on becoming a preacher! But I just had too many questions the Baptist view couldn't answer. After much soul searching, I became a free-thinker, and eventually discovered Taoism.
Who knows, if I had been raised in some other denomination I might still be Christian!

2. So This is What Our Country Has Come To |
|
Christians protesting Christians! Sure glad we have a "uniter" in charge.
This is what happens when religion is hi-jacked by people who think they speak for God. Does not leave a lot of room for tolerance or understanding, does it?
Do we live in America, or Belfast? How long before we in America begin "the Troubles".
All because enough people are convinced that God is a Republican.
Liberal Christians did not start this fight, but it is a fight for the soul of our country, and one that we must win.
The alternative is too "Hitleresque"

5. Yes. It's from Ireland |
|
They simply describe the fight between catholics and protestants as "the Troubles".

7. They weren't just protesting against "Baptists" |
|
In fact, some of the protesters were probably Baptist. But they are dismayed by the direction the SBC has taken.
Check out the Mainstream Baptists. Most would probably be considered "conservative" (in the old-fashioned way) but they reject the narrow mindedness & politicization of the SBC: www.mainstreambaptists.org/index.html
The "Takeover Timeline" is informative.
