It is Hard Work Consoling and Loving Families of Iraq War Dead.
So hard in fact that chimpass* fails to show up for the daily funerals down the road in Arlington Cemetery....

Gunnery Sgt. Barry Baker, left, presents Thomas W. Mininger with the flag that was placed over the casket of his son, Lance Cpl. Robert Thomas Mininger, of Sellersville, Penn., during his funeral service at Arlington Cemetery, in Arlington, Va., Monday, June 20, 2005. Mininger, who was 21, died in Iraq from wounds suffered in an explosion during combat. Seated next to Thomas W. Mininger is the deceased's girlfriend Erica Lehneis and his brother Greg Mininger. 1. I remember a very sad post a year or so ago
from a fellow hoosier. There was a military/combat death from the community - and the local (bush supporters) were expecting a "call" of condolences from Bush (given his statements like the one above.) If I recall our DUer friend was trying to cushion the blow to those with that expectation - trying to get info that he didn't really make such calls.... I don't recall how that situation ended up.

2. I would be willing to bet...
the only calls or visits he made were those few during the campaign that were nothing more than photo ops for him.
