Rush Limbaugh, hero of the working class, ridicules his audience on air
Edited on Tue Jun-21-05 11:53 AM by ComerPerro
So yesterday I was listening to Limbaugh (don't ask, I just have a strong stomach and a high tolerance for bullshit) and he was discussing his newest item for sale.

"Club Gitmo" T-shirts. Apparently he has set up a website discussing what a great "vacation retreat" Gitmo is, and he has T-shirts for sale that advertise "Club Gitmo". He mentions that they are in all sizes, from Small all the way to 4XL (no comment).

Just as I am reflecting on how bigoted, hateful and disgusting all this was, and just as I was fantasizing about how great it would be to send all his true believers to Gitmo for a week "vacation" as prisoners would be, he shocks me.

Absolutely astounds me.

He says something like "Now, I have been getting a lot of comments about the sizes, because T-shirts will shrink. But, don't wash them in the laundry. Have them dry-cleaned. That's what I do."

Apparently that caused an uproar among his sycophants. Apparently they reflected on how expensive that might be.

He went on to tell them that this is how clothes should be washed, he has all his laundry sent to dry cleaning. "The only thing I have sent to - I do in the laundry - is my socks." That comment alone was hilarious, because it sounded as though he almost mentioned not even washing his own socks but then caught himself.

He even had someone call in, who was *gasp* a dry-cleaner, who discussed with Rush that some people who are cheap will complain about the prohibitive cost of dry-cleaning everything, but that it was ultimately the best way to do things. Then he and Rush agreed that anyone who disagreed with their assessment could "stick it<.b>".

He went further still, indicating that "I don't even have any white T-shirts. I color-coordinate. I want to look nice. I don't want to look like (then I'm not sure what he said or if he finished the thought). I don't want to look sloppy, you know, T-shirts with holes in them, like..."
To which I added "Like your listeners, Rush?" (sadly, just to myself. It had to be said, though).

Apparently, this savior of the common man is such an out-of-touch elitist that he has all of his clothing dry-cleaned and sends only his socks to laundry.

Apparently, this man who attacked Democratic candidates for being "metrosexuals" likes to "color-coordinate" and "look nice".

Very interesting.

Is there ANY radio in the US that is NOT within range of the Excrement In Broadcasting microphone?

Why pay when you can already pick it up in your dental fillings in most places?

On edit: Pardon me "normal" is a purely statistical construct, i.e. not that "desirable" in specific situations.

And they call democrats elitsts. What's the deal with not washing your own clothes? My clothes get washed in a washer and dryer and they're perfectly fine. The only clothes I have with holes in it is a pair of shorts that I wore a lot in high school with band.

Chemicals in dry cleaning are toxic. He's poisoning himself and asking his listeners to join him. Dry cleaning fluid-kool aid. Jim Limbaugh. :sarcasm:

17. Maybe that is the explanation. His brain is fried from the over use
of dry cleaning solvents. Add the oxycotin and you have a lethal combination of pickled brains syndrome. It would explain a LOT besides the fact that Lush is just an a$$wipe.

16. Actually, I listen to him on occasion and sometimes watch Faux so that
I can be aware of their advertisers. I write down the companies that advertise during their timeframe and put them in a list.

In the past I have sent out mass emails to the advertisers informing them that I would never do business with them again as long as they sponsor the program.

24. When I need to feel better about the corporate radio talk-show
world, I cheer myself up by watching an Eric Blumrich animation.

<http://www.ericblumrich.com/nazi.html>

It has such a catchy tune that I have a hard time not singing it aloud in public - gotta be careful there - humming is okay, but wait 'til you get back to your car/home to break out in song!

28. It's fitting that he gets everything dry-cleaned.
Dry-cleaning is about the most disgusting process I can think of. They spray a chemical solution on the clothes that hides the dirt but never really gets the garment clean. Clothes that have been fry-cleaned a lot have the most disgusting feeling of chemical build-up on them -and he actually dry-cleans his UNDERGARMENTS! Blech. The one thing that you want to be soft and clean and fresh-laundered. Can you imagine his t-shirts, with a fine layer of obese-sweat mixed with dry-cleaning chemicals and perfume, with an ever so slightly sticky sensation? :puke:

That's more than I ever wanted to know about Rush Limbaugh.

but he was saying that even as a kid he never wore them, because that's what those damned filthy hippies wore. A paraphrase, but that's the just of what he said. He was really quite proud of it, and it struck me as elitist, which is why I remembered it.

is the ultimate huckster, a carnival barker who peddles his snake oil to the "great unwashed" (in his mind), scooping up their money by the bushel-ful and then laughing at them condescendingly as they walk away. I don't think he believes even a fraction of what he preaches, but knows exactly how to package a message and have an audience hang on his every word...
