Unless I missed this detail, it seems the bigshots are getting prison but keeping the money. What's a little time matter when you've got $600 million waiting for you?

1. And their family
will take good care of their limos, 4-5 yachts, and jets along with 5-6 mansions! It's sad but only true communism has ever made any change to this system!

2. I was born on the wrong side of this class war
I will never understand how rich people think--or sleep at night!

3. I don't know, but I think all their assets should be confiscated
and taken to pay back the people they stole from, former employees or whoever. They should have to do hard time in prison (not a country club jail) and after they get out, be sentenced to work at a McJob for the rest of their lives, live in a low-rent district, etc.

It makes me sick the way this type gets off with a slap on the wrist.
A convenience store robber, they'll lock him up and throw away the key. Yet these CEO's probably caused a lot more human misery.

7. Exactly! Justice is not blind and never has been
when money is involved.

4. '"ve been beating that drum since Enron - no jail, just pay back every $
I think what should be done with these crooked CEOs is NOT send them to jail.

They need to PAY BACK THE MONEY. Every cent. That means they should be LIQUIDATED. They should lose their homes, their cars, their bank accounts. Their wives should be forced to sell their jewelery and furniture. EVERYTHING. They should not go to jail - they should be set free...in ABJECT POVERTY.

If the comprehensive liquidation of their assets is not adequate to pay back ALL OF THE MONEY, plus interest and penalties, then their future earnings should be garnished, for life.

That is the only way real justice would be served.

6. That's the only way to get through to them is to take the money
their prison sentences are going to be like vacations.

10. Yes, yes, yes!! Like drug lords and Mob bosses continue to
run their empires from jail, these fucks will continue to make money. Like a sex offender should be kept away from anyplace there are children, and hackers are not allowed to touch a computer, these money-grubbing buttfuckers should be prohibited from having any financial transaction larger than a used car purchase.

If they do jail time, they should be required to pay back the costs of their incarceration.

The only downside I can see is if some former CEO is standing on the roadside with a will-work-for-food sign, I'm not going to be able to distinguish him from a honest down-on-his-luck working man and run over the wrong guy.

Sell their assets. They don't really belong to them anyway.

8. Every time a corporation pays a fine
listen for the disclaimer: "without admitting any wrongdoing." That makes the fine tax deductible.

The US Titanic is sinking under the waves of corporate corruption, brought to you by the folks who didn't want the Free Market (all bow) regulated... the same ones who now spend all their time talking about terra.

11. Damn right. If people want our current system yet want ethics and morals,
the CEOs MUST live up to their responsibilities. They are a pillar of society, therefore they are far more responsible than any of us.

Punishment must fit the crime, and it rarely does - for the wealthy anyway. Bill Gates and his company Microsoft are a prime example of this, a licensing exortion job he got caught in back in 1994 had him pay a small amount of money as "punishment". (his sceme? Force hardware makers to buy a MS license on EVERY PC built, even if the PC was not to have a MS operating system installed on it. If the vendor wanted to have MS products at all, he had to sign the contract. This is extortion. And one of many examples that does NOT make Gates a hero or good man in the slightest.)

(check out 1995 - Microsoft PIRATED software. This from a company that, since from day 1, has openly hated 'pirates'.)

(both of these have a lot more for just one company.)
